Hi! I was wondering if any of you had ever heard of anyone getting pregnant while nursing AND taking the mini pill? I haven't gotten by period back yet and we're still nursing 5 times a day with only 2 solids. BUT, I have been having a couple of pregnancy symptoms and I am TERRIFIED! Anyone ever had this happen to them. Any advice could help ease my mind. Thanks so much!

PS - Having another child would be a blessing, but I would like that blessing to be in about 2 more years!! [IMG]

Also, could one of the mods send this to Breast Feeding forum too - thanks!!

This is something I have been wondering. I got my period last month then I spotted for a few days a few weeks ago, but now this month, I should have had my period by now and nothing. I haven't really had any symptoms, but I have always been very regular. I am not breastfeeding, but I am pumping every three hours and I am on a BC pill called Camilla. I too feel that another baby would be a blessing, but I would like to have a few years with my girls first.

Yes you can still get prego, bfing doesnt prevent pregnancy nor does the pill always. I suggest you both test.

Just FYI, the minipill has a 94% effectiveness rate. I am on it too and right now 94% is not good enough for me! We use a backup method as well until I stop breastfeeding and can use something else. Take the test!

One more thing... it is normal to have a period while you are breastfeeding and not have another for quite a while. With my first child, I had one at about 2 months and not another one until 10 months when I stopped breastfeeding.

The mini pill can cause you to have irregular periods. I have always been right on the dot regular with my cycle. But now, on the mini-pill, it's all over the place. This months it was 5 days late, but last month it was 2 weeks late. I've also had some spotting in between. I think Ava&Emma's mom is right about the 94%, but I think that is factoring in that not everyone takes the pill right on time every day and never misses one. It's important with the mini pill that you take it at the same time every day. If you take it at the exact same time every day and never miss one, I think the it is even more effective than 94%.

Wow! I wish the doc had mentioned the 94% thing. I guess next time I'm at the store I'll buy a test. My husband will think I'm nuts, but I guess I would rather know. I knew it was a possibility, but I guess I was wondering how likely everyone thought it was.

I found this on the internet:

    quote:
    How effective is ORTHO MICRONOR?

ORTHO MICRONOR is 99.5% effective when taken correctly.

To be effective, ORTHO MICRONOR must be taken at the same time each day (or, if necessary, not more than 3 hours after the same time everyday). With typical use, which includes missed pills,
ORTHO MICRONOR is 95% effective, which is slightly less effective than combination birth control pills containing estrogen and progestin.

So if you are are taking it religiously at the same time every day and not missing any pills, it is more effective than 95%.

Just had to let you guys know that I did get a test over the weekend and it came out negative. Which is a positive for me right now. But I'll have to be honest, I am truly looking forward to becoming pregnant again one day. Just taking the test and remembering the feelings I got when I saw that positive sign with all 3 of my babies. I just loved it. [IMG]

But for the moment I am just sooo happy to be able to enjoy the family that God has already so richly blessed me with!! [IMG]
