I am only 7.5 weeks and my next dr's appointment isn't untill the 17 of March. I just need to know they are still in there and growing. Seems like such a long time to wait between appointments....5 1/2 weeks!

Hang in there. I was impatient too for my first few appointments. Then I began seeing my peri and obgyn once a month which made me see my twins via ultrasound about every two weeks. Will you be seeing a specialist? Does your obgyn use ultrasound to hear the heart beats at each visit?

I am seeing my ob/gyn. He used ultrasound to look at the hearts beating. We did not get to hear them. I don't have any idea if we will see a peri.

I also saw my OB and a peri (just due to having twins). I liked seeing the babies more often. The peri did a growth u/s at every visit, so that was nice. You can see a peri as well as your regular OB. Since I saw both I went about every 2 weeks to the Dr. and it was a relief to know everything was okay. But I remember going 4 weeks with my oldest DD and you are right, it is tough to wait that long in between visits.

Some obgyn's will refer you a specialist because often multiple pregnancy is considered a high risk. I started seeing my peri at about 12 weeks. Perhaps you obgyn will make that referal for you too.

Thank you for your responses. It is very reasurring and helpful.
Is the peri usually in the same area as the ob or a different department all together?
I will be sure to ask my ob all my other questions too. I am surely developing a list!

Are you seeing a specialist too? I see a perinatologist and OB. Anyone with multiples should see a peri.

I only get to see the peri every six weeks, and it is actually at the hospital. My OB is in a regular office, and I really don't get much out of those appointments. My next peri appointment is March 10th, and I'm really looking forward to it. I know how you feel waiting and wondering... it is hard.

I was like that my whole pregnancy. I couldn't wait until my appts especially the u/s. At least at each appt I got to hear the heartbeats. You have a long road ahead but you will be amazed on just how quickly time flies.
