Getting completely naked to poop

My son is 4, been trained for over a year, but he's got this habit of taking ALL of his clothes off when he has to poop.

Now, there is some logic in his reasoning, he says he doesn't want to accidently pee on his shirt while pooping. He does occasionally pee a little on the floor when he is sitting on the toilet.

But, why take it completely off? Is this normal? Is it something I should discourage and/or punish for in the long term?

He usually only poops at home. But what happens if he ends up having to go #2 at school or in Walmart?

 

My boys have been known to strip down and there is no reasoning to it.

 

I don't have any daughters so I can't compare but my oldest always stripped down to pee and poop. It was actually kinda funny. :lol:

 

LOL, my girls didn't do that, but my 4 year old did for the first 2 years. Now he still strips his bottoms for it, but will leave his shirt on

 

My six year old still does this and drives me nuts! I have yet to see him try it in a store though. :lol:

 

My nephew does it. My sister wanted to know why he is like George Costanza.

Nolan just started using the potty and he holds his shirt in his mouth.

 

Both of my boys do this!!
