Getting a Superyard, any advice?

My stepmom just emailed me that she ordered us a Superyard from Target online and that it would be delivered to our house sometime this week! I am so excited. Grace just started crawling a few days ago and I was talking about eventually getting something once they're both crawling and running me crazy! So this was a nice suprise!

I read all of the reviews on Target's website, most were great, but of course there were a few bad ones. Some said their babies tried to climb them, could push them around the room, or lift them up and crawl under! I just wanted to see what any of you who use/have used these have to say about them. Hopefully it will work for us atleast for a while!

Well I just got one and took it back in a matter of days. Madison who just started crawling would get her fingers in the holes of it and would get stuck upright. There was more than once when both girls had scratches on their faces because the inside is not a smooth surface. So what I ended up getting was this playzone They are more expensive but I found one on craigslist for less than the superyard. Even at the regular price its still a LOT better than the superyard, there are no rough edges, its colorful and has toys, and it has a door. My opinion would be to return it to a target near you and order a playzone [IMG]

I've only heard good things about them! I've always thought of getting one--especially now that we've got two more coming-- I just may get one myself in a few months. Let us know how you like it!

I have the same one Cassie has - actual I have two of them that I put together to form a 'playroom'- and the boys love it, and I am very happy with it - it gives them lots of room, they each have a pannel to play with that keeps them entertained and there are no rough edges!

I have an older one Today's Kids with 8 panels. It was great until the boys learned to stand up and try to walk. They would push it all around the room and it would open [IMG] Mine was like the playzone one not the superyard. You had to allign them and push down to lock. I think the superyard lOOKS like it will not come apart if pushed by two toddlers.

FWIW, my daughter used one off and on until almost 3! Funny how TWO BOYS change the scenario 2000% [IMG]

We just got a superyard 2 weeks ago. Both babies are crawling very quickly, and Jacob is also pulling up, and I thought that I would use it more than I actually do. We have a 2 story house, and I put them in it to run upstairs and do laundry, but that is about it. They loooove their walkers right now! [IMG]

We've had a Superyard for about a month now and my boys and I both love it! We have foam mats as a 'floor' inside, and a box full of toys - the boys go in whenever I need to put my attention elsewhere for a few minutes or just to give myself a wee break from chasing them around the house. They never complain - they seem to have a great time in it. In fact, they used the walls to pull up for the first time and now spend much of their time inside cruising around the perimeter. It also folds very compactly so you can bring it when you visit friends or family who don't have babyproofed houses - makes the visit a lot less stressful!

We just got one, but we use ours a little differently right now. We have an opening to the entryway that is 68 inches. The only gates we could find required you to mount hardware into the wall. We didn't want that, but we needed some way to keep them in the living room.

We got the superyard, folded it in half and put it against the doorway/wall. We pushed up a big chair and an end table against it so it can't move. We'll take it to my mom's for overnights so she won't have to babyproof. We'll use it in the yard this spring (woohoo), put it around the Xmas tree next year, etc. It folds up pretty small so the transportability was a big plus for us.

We have the rubber mat underneath (bought separately) and it took several months for the girls to figure out they could push it around. They can still only move it a few feet across the floor; it's not like they are pushing it all over the house. They have not figured out how to get under it or climb over it (and we'll probably ditch it altogether before they do -- some babies figure this out much earlier though). The good thing is that they can really whale on it and although it does shift a bit, it doesn't come apart or give way at all.

My only advice is to get the extension. With 2 kids and their toys, it gets very crowded in there.

We had 2 and it was the best ever. I took toys that are supposed to tie on cribs etc & tied them all over the inside. (Mirrors, toys that play music etc)
We used it in the house, outside, took it to friends houses & even camping.

We had a superyard with extension. We put the foam mats underneath. The boys LOVED it! They'd cruise around laughing and playing with their toys. We used to take it to my brother's house and the other kids enjoyed getting in there for a while, while the grownups grabbed the chance to eat without toddlers going in our plates. [IMG]

A bit later one of them did learn to push it around [IMG] but the other never did. We've now taken it apart and use the pieces to block areas we don't want the boys to get into.

We also have the one that Cassie has. So far no problems and they seem to really like it. We bought 2 extension with ours to make it a decent size. I attached a pic. It contains them and they seem happy in it for stretches of time. We just pile a bunch of toys in. We also have 2 walkers that they love b/c they can follow me around the house.

Mine are only 6 months old so far, so not yet crawling. But we use the superyard as a crib when we travel. It can easily hold them both with enough room for them not to kick each other. It's TERRIFIC!

I still use mine (w/extension) all the time!! I started around 9 mos. and they went in almost daily and still will hang in there for an hour or more so that I can work out or shower or whatever. They have snack time in there (on mats) and they have never climbed out or under.... (they'll be two next monday)

We have our superyard around our TV stand and all of our DVD's and CD's are inside. We use it to keep kids out rather than in. We have had ours up for about 20 months now and think it will be up for at least 20 more. Last winter we extended it infront of the fireplace so that we could use that in the winter. It is one of the best investments I have made. Only recently and my boys will be 3 soon are they lifting it up to get to the stuff that I keep inside it. But I am comfortable that they won't pull the TV down on themselves, put something in the VCR or DVD player.
