Get a load of this...

So I was in Sam's Club today when a man came up to us and said, "twins?"
I said, "yes" .....and then he said, "oooooo, I feel sorry for you.....I at least hope they're boys!"
I said, "I've got one of each..." just sort of flabbergasted. I usually have a decent reply to comments people make, but that one really caught me off guard. Why in the world would he think that's an ok thing to say!!?? Ugh. So annoying. I'm still ticked....

WTHeck... why are two boys better than girls??? I got that alot when I was PG because we had three girls already... BUT we love them because they are our children not because they are a certain sex.. UGH... sorry you had to deal with that.

 

Apparently he is missing his pause button. You know, the one that stops you and makes you think about how something you say will make someone feel. People just don't know how to react to twins and they think they have to say something witty but they can't think of anything so they just say something dumb. I always just laugh real sarcastically hard and then they don't know how to react so they just smile and walk away. :lol:

 

I think that oftentimes people are just trying to be nice and don't know what to say. Some people think girls are harder to raise, and he must be one of those. It sounds to me like he was trying to be friendly, not rude. Maybe I'm the only one, though :unknw:

yeah we call those "mouth brakes" and that guys must have been out of order

 

I call it the brain filter. They filter out rude/stupid/hateful comments. Apparently his doesn't work.

Oh I think you're right...he clearly wasn't trying to be rude--he just wasn't thinking. That's what I always have to think we people say lame things, "they are not INTENDING to be mean!" I try to go by intention--but in this case I was still totally dumbfounded!

Very rude!!!! I have 4 boys - 5, 2, and 7 month old twins. I have heard so many times "you poor thing". My response "I'm one of the most blessed women in the world."

How hateful, some people do not think. I get so sick of the OMG i bet your hands are filled... Ummm yes they are thank youverymuch and i am hapy because many years i went with empty ones.

 

He must have had a housefull of girls to make a statement like that! Too bad his wife wasn't there to pop him on the head.
