Anyone use gentlease formula? Mine were on Neosure and have such reflux so he switched us over. What are your thoughts?
Yep-It's what I used for all three of my kids. I'm not sure it helped with the spitting up(which is why I tried it), but my kids were fine on it. They were happy spitters, as their pedi and I refered to them as. I remember having a conversation with him about this, and he didn't really believe in all of the different forms of formula. He said if there's a market for it-sure someone is going to make it. But I still used it anyways.
We used this exclusively for our twins because my son had colic so badly that nothing worked (not even nutrimigen). We switched our daughter to Gentlease as well just because it was easier to have them both on the same formula. We recently switched to the basic Enfamil A+ because it was on sale and because we are gently introducing whole milk. LOVED Gentlease.
My DS had no problems with it, but it severely constipated my DD. It got rid of her gas, but pooping was a painful experience for her. I switched them both back to the regular enfamil and things got much better. I think every baby is different, so you never know until you try. We used the regular formula (enfamil or parent's choice) with the added rice starch for our son who had reflux. I always thought gentlease was just for gas, but do whatever works for your lo's. That was just our experience.
We use Gentlease and have since we stopped Neosure very early on (our boys are 10 mos/7 adj). We use it on recommendation of our Pedi. It has worked well for us. I don't have much to compare it to, though. My boys have reflux and I honestly believe time is the best cure for it. It is slowly improving as they age and as a PP said, mine are also happy refluxers. I think "Gentlease" is more of a marketing thing (and my Pedi probably favored it because of some pharma rep!), but if I had tried other formulas, maybe I'd still like it best.
We've had the most success with Good Start. I think you'll find a lot of members of this board are fans.
I started using it with one of my girls at about 4 months. She had horrible digestion problems. Constipation so bad and she wouldn't eat, she'd cry out half way through a bottle in pain. Lots of spitting up and general crankiness. About 3 days after starting Gentlease I noticed a big difference. I actually wrote enfamil and told them how great I found it and asked if they would send me coupons since we would be using it from now on and they did. Any little bit helps with the cost. She has always been a spitter upper, so it didn't help that so much, but definately you could tell her tummy felt better. She is still on it now at 10 months. I did try once to switch her over by doing some of the gentlease and some of her sister's formula but it didn't go so well, so figured why mess with a good thing. I'll just keep her on it another couple months until we switch to milk. Hoping that isn't a disaster! Its easier to digest. At first she had a lot of runny poops. After about a week you could tell her system was settling down and getting used to it.
oh also, she threw up constantly on the goodstart. So really, I think you have to try a bunch and see what works. But also you have to give it enough time to see if it helps. Sometimes I think people switch too quick from one to another. Hope you find one that helps
