Kristine, I can't answer the u/s question since I had fraternals and that, I'm sure, played into how often they saw me. As for the scheduling the c/s date, every doctor is different in this area. :good: You'll have to call and ask when they are willing to schedule something for you. My doctor wouldn't schedule anything until I was 38 weeks.

My doc wouldn't give a c-sec date until about a week before he was going to do it. I never ended up getting a date since I had a c-sec at 36 weeks, 2 weeks earlier than he wou ld have scheduled. I think That is why they don't plan too far ahead like that. It really does make sense but I also understand the desire to want a date too.

yeah, the OB keeps telling me that she will give me a date so i have something to look forward too....lol.
we are hoping to make it no less than 32 weeks but the specialist seems to think it will be between 32-37 weeks. either way no one is thinking that i'll make it to term, or close too. the goal is 5lb babies.

they are my first too by the way.

I'm exactly 26 weeks today and my OB just gave me a c-section date on Monday. I asked him for it and he said, sure we can schedule it now. I thought that was cool!! Also, I've had ultrasounds every 2 weeks since the beginning. I'm still doing that for a couple more visits then he said I'll be coming in once a week.

can i ask what type of twins you are having and if you are especially high risk??

that makes me wonder why they want to space mine out from every 2 weeks to every 3 weeks.

I was going every 4 weeks at my last untrasound on 5/13 my peri told me he want to see me every 2 weeks for an ultrasound. When I make it to 32 weeks, I will have to go every week. Everything thing has looked great with the boys so far.

My OB is supposed to schedule my c-section at my next appointment which is on 5/28. He already told me he will do the c-section sometime around July 21.

We are having di/di twins and up until 23 weeks saw the doctor every 3-4 weeks. I go back at 25 weeks... and am now on visits every two weeks. At some point (can't remember when), he said I'll be on weekly visits... and if I make it very close to term, a couple of times a week. Although Baby A is currently breech and Baby B is transverse, we haven't discussed c-section dates. Part of me wants a c-section (pushing out a very big-headed first child, makes me shudder at the thought of vaginal delivery and the healing!), the other part says it would be nice not to have to recover from surgery if by some chance babies are both head down at the time...

I am having mono/di twins and mine have been every 4 weeks and they don't plan on changing it. I had one at 32 weeks and I have one for 36 weeks. The doctor said I will have another at 40 weeks if I make it that far but that hopefully I won't have to have that one. I did start NSTs twice a week starting this week.

I'm having faternal twins, I'm not high risk at all. It's just my doctors preference with twin pregnancies. I feel like it's a bit much but I get to see my girls so I'm not complaining.

I was thought to be having mono/di twins and came very close to developing TTTS at 20 weeks. By 26 weeks things had settled down and my peri (a leading TTTS specialist) said, see you in three weeks! I couldn't believe it! Up until then I had been having an u/s every week. Two weeks into that time I panicked when I hadn't felt one of the boys move in a day. I went in for an u/s to check things out and everything was fine. The next week was my scheduled u/s and baby b's fluid had gone back up again. I was given steroid shots and the boys were born 1.5 weeks later at 33 weeks.

As for scheduling the csection, I had to beg an OB to schedule me for one at 37 weeks so that they wouldn't make my husband deploy and miss the birth. I think I was 29 weeks at the time. They usually like to wait a little longer though. It didn't matter after all, but it did give me a light at the end of the tunnel.

Just curious, why does your specialist think you'll go early? My Dr told me I would go early because I am a smaller person. I ended up having them vaginally at 38.5 weeks. I really think I would have gone to 40 if I wasn't induced.

i had mono/di girls & i was going for u/s every two weeks. then around 27 weeks, Danika's fluid level increased quite a bit & my cervix shortened considerably. that week alone i went for 3 u/s. once they determined that it was polyhydramnios (sp?) and not TTTS, we went back to every two weeks. i was also on a home bedrest program where nurses would come to my house twice a week & do NSTs.

anyway, i would say that if you're concerned about the time between u/s just check with your doc about his/her reasoning. if that doesn't reassure you, maybe you could request more frequent u/s?

My OB scheduled my date once I hit 35.5 weeks (I had my scheduled c/s at 37.5 weeks).
My ultrasounds were every 2 weeks, then I went to every week at around 33 weeks :good:

because they are my first, they are mono-di and i've had some complications. also i guess in this area multiples rarely make it to 37 weeks. or at least thats what they keep telling me.

i find it interesting that most of you ladies are on bi-weekly or weekly u/s check ups. my peri just saw me on monday for my last TTTS scan and said that since everything was good i would not need to be seen for 3 weeks. kind of freaks me out, i want to see my babies all the time and get reassured that they are ok! but she did tell me that now that i'm 26 weeks the TTTS risk is virtually gone so that's a relief!

That's odd that they have spread out your u/s. Mine have gotten closer- I've been weekly for a month now and sometimes more than that if he wants me to see the peri for a level II. Did they doc tell you that you need a c-section for sure? Babies can change positions pretty late sometimes.

like one of the other posters we are electing to have a c-section to ensure that the father can be present. he's a fire fighter and his schedule is 24 hours at work and unable to communicate in another county and then 48 hours off where i can reach him and he can leave his part time job. we are scheduling a date so that he can prepare time off...not that there is any certainty to it, i could deliver at any time but it makes things a little less stressful, especially if i can make it to the c-section date. and we decided to get a tubal so a c-section just makes more sense...you know while they are in there pulling the babies out they can tie me up :)

maybe they have spread them out because the boys are growing so well???

Hi, I am also carrying/having frateral boys, Since 30 wks. at my specialist I get ultra sounds every week...they check the fluid levels, check out the functions of the boys, and I get (I think it's called) stress tests-where they put 3 straps around my belly one on each baby to monitor their heart beats & movement, and one at the top to monitor if there are any contractions. And every 3 wks. I still get an ultrasound...and everything that they do each wk. in addition to checking their growth and my cervix. I also see my OBGYN every 2 wks for checking the heart beats, urine, height of fundus, blood pressure and ask or answer any questions cares or concerns. I try to rest alot because the belly is getting kinda heavy and to think that I still have 4-6 more weeks to grow/go. The appetite has gotten hefty and so I really want to try to still eat healthy to not develop any pregnancy problems or gain crazy useless weight .Also my husband is a trucker so he's on the road alot and I don't think that my OB will be talking delivery date until I get closer to 36 wks. unless they (OB or Specialist ) foresee (god forbid) otherwise. In a case like that I will have time enough to let my hubby know so that he can be home but he and I have planned that he will start sticking close to home when I turn 35-36 wks. Also, my mother, who is 3 states away is also on stand-by she maybe traveling this way when I turn 35 wks as well...dependant on my doing well (so that's why I get plenty of rest and stay off my feet and try to eat well so that I cook these babies well). I am o.k with whatever method of delivery that I may have to go. My doc is pushing for the vaginal delivery...but that is up to God and how the babies position themselves.Ohhh...I forgot to add that I don't stress about anything.(when stress tries to present itself I get rid of it however I have to but it has to go-because I believe that is what causes alot of complications in pregnancy...that and worry) As long as I do my part I believe things will flow right.
