hi, i was reading trouble squared's post...congrats on boy girl twins!!!

When is the latest a boys package can drop? I had an u/s at 16 wks and the tech couldn't tell. Just wondering if the twins were cooperating and he still couldn't tell, is it safe by 18 wks to start thinking they might be girls?

It was determined for us at 16 weeks that they were boys. So I would think by 18 you should know for sure.

Hi, Here you go: Twin Pregnancy Week 19

By week 19, baby girls' genitals are beginning to form. For baby boys, their genitals are becoming more obvious. Babies' teeth buds are starting to shape as well.

Good luck with the next u/s.

At my u/s around that time, we could tell that one was definitely a boy, with the other one, it was hard to tell. Something was definitely sticking out and the Dr. said BOY and the midwife said maybe it's girl parts stuck together, but the Dr. said Nope, it's a boy! 2 weeks later (I was about 19.5 wks) at my High Risk appt, it was very obviously a BOY and a GIRL!! I was seriously in shock thinking that I was going to have both! I was so sure it was 2 more boys (and I love my boys and would have been thrilled with 2 more) but I just couldn't grasp on to the idea that one was a girl, it was amazing!

At my 16 week u/s the technician thought I was having 2 boys. At my u/s earlier this week - we found out it's actually a boy and a girl. She could tell it was a girl because of the 3 bright white lines/dots. Check out my post..... I have pictures you can look at of the u/s.

I just called one of those places that will do 3D/4D scans becuase I want to have one done...and also for gender determination. I told her I was 19 weeks and she told me that I could come at anytime at this point...however, she did mention that it can take up until 22 weeks for the scrotum on boys to fullly descend.

well on my 13 week u/s the tech said she really thinks they are boys and then on my 15 weeks u/s it was definately confirmed. and now at 18 weeks its still definately boys. I think it all depends on the tech and how much experience they have

The scrotum and penis are actually developed at the same time a girl's vagina is developed -- about 13 weeks. Very experienced techs can tell that early, most like to wait until ~20 weeks when they are bigger and easier to see. The testicles themselves do not descend until the 7th-8th month, but it doesn't affect the ability to determine gender via u/s. :)

They were pretty sure they were both boys at our 15 week appt.! It was confirmed without a doubt a week later.

hi, thanks, most importantly would like healthy babies, but i'll gladly accept any pink vibes coming my way!!!

My twins share a placenta and are in 2 sacs. monochorionic/diamniotic? Is that right??

No problem. I like that site since it is the only one I found that has the week by week for twin development.

With my first son I had three ultrasounds. In the first two I was told he was a girl then the doctor said "I think I have to change my mind" at the third ultrasound. I was in my third trimester! I know this is rare, but it does happen. That's why I tell all my friends if they tell you it's a boy you can be sure it's a boy, if they tell you it's a girl they could be wrong. So, to answer your question, sometimes they can position their bodies where it's hard to tell and they won't know for sure until much later in pregnacy.
