GD Test

I have been reading that your supposed to get the glucose test between 24 and 28 weeks. I am almost 26 weeks and my next appointment with my OB I will be 27 weeks and she hasn't mentioned anything to me about it. Should I call and ask if I 'm supposed to schedule an appointment to get it done?

You should call and ask their procedure. My doctor sends the drink home and has you drink it 1 hour before your appointment. Some doctors send you to a lab for the blood draw so they give you the drink at the closest appointment and give you a lab slip.

 

I would call and ask. Like PP said some have a drink that you are supposed to take. All should have specific instructions for you.

 

i wasnt tested until 32 weeks, and yes, i failed the GD test. Both of them.

I mentioned it to my doc today and she said, oh yeah! We've got to do that :lol:. So needless to say, I did mine today (ask for the fruit punch, it was ok) But she said anytime between 24-28 weeks...so ask when you go next week...

 

I did mine at 27 weeks as well. I did it in conjunction with my appt. But they did tell me ahead of time.

 

I had a Dr. appoint on March 31st and I had to remind my Dr. that I was suppose to be getting checked for GD that day.(so I had to remind him). And you are right it is between 25-28 wks. because once you get in your 3rd trimester it is useless to take because it will be too late to take precautions.(they don't treat you for GD that late- something about it being too late by then) I actually liked the orange drink and it did not taste bad like was told to me-I drank it with no problems.Good Luck. The earlier you find out the better for you and your babies. I am actually about to put a post about my experience with the testing among other things I failed the 1st one but it was because of what I ate that altered my scores.So dont eat anything after midnight and only sip on water when needed.I passed the 2nd time with flying colors.
