Well, I have my GD test tomorrow!!! I am hoping that I'd pass....Am really scared.

I have a question too. What can I eat before going to the test? I get hungry as soon as I wake up and don't want to starve until the test is over.
Is there anything good and non-sugary that I can eat before going? How about toasts with butter and a glass of milk?
Any advice or suggestions are welcome!!!! :)

I was told I could eat anything as long as it wasn't sugary like yogurt or fruit or juice. I ate eggs, toast and milk. You don't need to starve yourself just don't eat anything with sugar. Good luck.

I just had my 3 hour test tomorrow. Are you just having your initial test and not a 3 hour fasting test?

I would not suggest that you have milk with your toasts but instead have some protein. Maybe a hardboiled egg and toast with nut butter or butter. No juice and no milk. Milk is actually high in sugar- lactose is a form of sugar. Unless of course this is the 3 hour glucose test which requires fasting from the night before.

I actually did not pass either test and now am testing myself four times a day with a little machine and keeping a food journal for the next week. Chances are that you will be fine. I have already been having symptoms of this- weight gain, higher than average weight gain for the babies, etc..

    Good luck tomorrow.

My ob did not tell me anything about not eating certain foods. As a matter of fact, I ate a whole lot of fruit, eggs, bacon and juice before my test and it came back okay.

don't be too nervous- I'm sure it'll be fine. I was also nervous and failed the 1st (by 1 pt!!!) but not the 2nd. (TG!!) I'd definately not take any chances & only have some eggs and toast beforehand. (The 3 hr. test SUCKS!) Just go early enough in the am so you can get it over with & eat more right after. Good luck!

There's no restrictions on what you can eat prior to the 1-hour (the 3-hour is a fasting test). However, definitely stay away from any kind of sugar (milk and fruit included...) just to be on the safe side. Eat a high protein breakfast (eggs, chicken, etc)...It never hurts to tip the scales in your favor!! ;)

I was really nervous too so the afternoon before I stopped eating anything sugary. Then that morning I had eggs, 1 piece of buttered whole grain toast and coffee with sugar free creamer. I passed the 1 hr. Good luck!

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much... you really can't do any studying! :umm: Just eat normal. IF you do fail it, there is the 3-hour. I'd really hate to mess with the results and pass when you might need watching (diet-wise) if you know what I mean. That said, I worried too, but I passed with flying colors.
