When Meara was dealing with gas she would ball up and scream and turn bright red. We were so scared the first time this happened we actually called the pedi at 2am and ended up bringing her to the ER (this was 48 hours after they were discharged from the NICU). We started mylicon that day and it was MUCH better after that. This might be an extreme example though.

This is exactly what one of mine does, gets all red faced and screams out. Do/did your babies do this especially while eating?

How did you use the Mylicon? Every feeding? Before? After? I know one poster recommended every feeding.
    Any other tricks for gas?

When it was the worst she would do this during and after feedings. The doctor suggested burping her after every 1/2 ounce to an ounce. At the time she was only 2 weeks old so she was getting 30-60cc per feeding every 3 hours (she was about 5lbs). As for the mylicon, we added it right to her bottle. I think it was .4, but definitely check with your pedi about dosing. And yes we did this for every bottle. This and frequent burping (and she was a tough baby to burp) really helped her. I also sometimes layed her on my arm with her face down and the crook of my elbow on her tummy and her legs on either side of my upper arm. This helped her a lot too. My SIL told me about it and called it the "colic hold." I wish I had a picture, but I don't. GL!

Oh and one more thing, the Target brand of symethicone (Mylicon) is just as good as the name brand and much cheaper.

Both of my babies are VERY gassy...it has been tough to deal with as they seem so uncomfortable. Mine also scrunch up their legs, turn bright red and cry (scream?) really loud. Very audible toots at times, too! And depending on how recently they pooped (mine go every 3-4 days!), the toots can be quite smelly, too.We tried many things (gas drops, diet modification, etc) with little success. I think frequent burping and tummy pressure are the best remedies...we are waiting for the day they outgrow it!!

One word of caution...I think the gas is the reason I have had to deal with two bouts of projectile poo while changing diapers!!
