My poor dd! She is on Gentlease formula but is extremely gassy. She had been taking Zantac for reflux, but it was not helping, so last week we switched to Prevacid which is totally helping the reflux, but now she seems gassier than ever. I give her Mylicon drops with every feeding but it doesn't seem to help. She strains so much to pass gas and it wakes her up from a dead sleep.

We go to a GI specialist this week, so maybe he will have some ideas, but in the meantime....is there anything else I can do for her?

Also, she isn't constipated, as she poops at least once a day, but since being on the Prevacid it seems like her poop consistancy is much thicker,(not hard)which makes it more work and more uncomfortable when trying to poop.

I love the Prevacid because it has made my children much more content after feedings, however it seems like everytime we fix one problem, another one arises. UGH.
    Any advice??

Pray and I'll pray for you both. Be wise what kind of advice you get for your child. How old if you don't mind?

I never tried Gentleease but I have some friends that did and they said their babies were gassier with it. They switched to Goodstart supreme and said it was like night and day.

My kids are on prevacid also. This reflux thing is really tough. My daughter is STILL spitting up after bottles AND solid foods!!! They keep telling me she will outgrow it, but I have yet to see signs! Hang in there and try the good start, I have heard GREAT things!

Hi there I know what you mean about them being gassy. My little one also takes Prevacid (Thanks GOD for that medication) And I did give her that formula and I switched to AR same brand. Wow what a diffrence she still gets gas who doesn't..lol but not as bad. Just for your information from my experiance on Prevacid my twin use to get a tablet and put it in .5ml of water and give her only 1.5 in the morning and 1.5 at night. Then one day I started to notice she was not her self and she was wetting her bips alot and so I said shes teething so a week passed and she got worse. She had out grown the dosage of the Prevacid. So keep her weight when on medication if less than 13 pounds 1.5 or what pred. says over 14 pounds half a tablet. Wow that dosage makes a huge diffrence. I should of took her to the doctor when I notice she was not happy. After that it took her about three days to be her normal self. But like I said when you get the first sign's call your doctor. But I bet if you switch to the AR Formula it will coat her stomache a little more and less gas... Also I put a little rice ceral in her formula and blen it really good and that also hepls her retain the fluid..

    Hope this information is helpful

Gas and reflux were HORRIBLE!!! I found mylicon drops to be useless. But I know a lot of moms swear by them. Have you tried the Dr. Browns bottles?? They made a world of differance for our girls. Just a thought. Also, you can try rubbing thier tummys, or laying a warm washcloth on their tummies, that might help with the gas pain.
Good luck, you are in a really difficult stage, it does get better!!
