Has anyone bought/or currently use the gallon size tubs of glue or paint? I'll be teaching 1st grade, Kindergarten, and Preschool this fall so still lots of art projects. Plus, the twins will be pushing two and ready to participate in coloring/painting. The little tubs of Crayola washable paint just doesn't do it here. With three kids using them after a couple uses it's gone. We don't paint as much as the kids would like because I just can't afford to keep buying little paint tubs. I'm thinking about buying the large gallon tubs of primary colors and then a gallon tub of glue. I can refill the little glue bottles throughout the year. We go through a lot of glue. The kids LOVE to glue stuff together. I'm just curious if anyone has used them and if they hold up over a year? As long as lids are on tight I see no issue but you never know. Opinions? The gallon size tubs are less than $10 online but I'm going to check out the prices at a local teaching supply store as well.

I have big bottles (not quite a gallon though) just for our private use at home. I love not having to restrict the amount of art we do because of the cost of supplies. I use the store brand of a large arts and crafts supplies online store. I also buy other arts and crafts supplies in bulk there.

So far the bottles have been open for about a year, the quality is still good. The only issue I have is that the stains seem to set more easily than with the expensive brands like washable Crayola; the colours are washable but I need to wash the clothes quickly, i.e. on the same day.

I haven't. But I used to have the large jars of powdered tempera paint that you can mix as needed. Some is washable, some is not so you have to be careful if you like washable. The larger amount worked well when my older two were little.

I remember the paint at my DS's old play & art class was supposedly washable but it wasn't really that washable so I figured it was the same. I'm going to look into the teacher supply store before I buy online.
