I had been looking at these thinking they are a great idea. www.gdiapers.com

They are the best of both worlds, reusable and biodegradable. I started adding up how many diapers we are using and I figure we will be putting at least 6000 more diapers into the landfill. Unbelievable. I know there is a huge argument for cloth, but the extra time, water, etc is there as well. Okay, I know I should use cloth to avoid the guilt but I wanted something easier (who doesn't?)

My DH and I sat down tonight and did the math, holy smokes! it would cost us over $1000 more to use the gdiapers! It is such a shame that it is not more affordable. I know eventually the price will come down as they are a new product, but unfortunately my DH and I decided it would be best for us to stick with Pampers! I'm sure alot of you mom's already know this. I would like to hear some opinions on diapers, cloth, disposable, gdiapers, etc.

I haven't done much research on cloth as they just seem messy, icky and alot of work. Please enlighten me

If you can afford it going with a diaper service is wonderful and its not messy or too smelly either. The daycares at my high school used a diaper service that picked up the diapers every week and brought clean ones. Sometimes they brought more than we used so we used them to burp the babies and clean up after them. We also used wash clothes instead of wipes too, which was part of the service.

I wish we could afford a service.

I had cloth diapered for two months. Diaper changes took forever with prefolds and covers. I didn't want to shell out extra $$ for different cloth diapers I might decide not to use (again). We use Target brand diapers and they are so cheap! However, g-diapers should be quicker. If I remember right, they are either pocket diapers or All in One diapers. These make diaper changes a breeze. There are many great reasons to use cloth. If you would really like to use them, there are lots of other sites that sell many different brands of cloth, and would be much cheaper than g-diapers. I think g-diapers are one of the most expensive cloth dipes (if not THE most expensive) I had seen. GL, Alisa!

I CD my twins, and I love it. I do one load of diapers every two days. My entire diaper stash cost less than $500, and most of the diapers I use are one-size and will last until they are close to potty-training.

The increase in water use is negligible: my water bill hasn't even gone up since I had the twins.

    This is my understanding too!

I got some of the g-diapers. Once they outgrow these, I won't be getting anymore. At first I had some Happy Heiny's and they were easy to use. I'll probably be going back to that route when they outgrow the g-diapers.

What brand do you use and where did you get them? =)

I know. I HATE putting dipes in the landfill, but other options are so expensive. I can't do CD because we live in a condo where we share washers and it is too much of a pain to lug everything down there, not to mention there is not always a washer available! If I had my own laundry I would CD.

I saw those online, they are a lot more expensive. I was shocked...you would think they would make it MORE cost effective to use something like that.

I CD mine for the most part and bought, bum genius, baby kangas, and happy heiny's and my favorite are the happy heiny's. The upfront cost was about $500 but when you figure for twins you would spend a couple thousand dollars a year and fill a land fill by yourself it is worth the upfront cost and the extra load of laundry.

I love cloth diapering. I know a lot of moms will disagree, but its just as easy as sposies and cheaper too. I go to Diaperswappers and buy these awesome softer than ever bamboo diapers. I mean there is nothing softer in the world than these things. I put them on (some of my diapers snap or velcro on like a sposie) and snap them with this http://www.babyworks.com/catalog/product.a...CFQyenAodCi1AXQ
it just hooks into the fabric, and then put cute wool or fleece covers over it. I have cute cute covers like these here

Really I could go on and on with the cuteness of diaper covers :p :D

There is like a whole cloth diapering world out there. I am an addict LOL. I love my diaper stash!!

Anyhow, you just throw it all in the wash. yes poopy too. Of course if its a big solid you just shake in the toilet, but the mushy baby ones all comes clean. There are special ways to wash them of course. But back to diaper swappers. Everyone on there is serious diaperers and so they take excellent care of their diapers. I spent maybe 500 on my stash and as they get bigger I sell all mine and get the next size up. At the end of it all I just sell it off and am out maybe a couple hundred total as opposed to thousands. That is a couple hundred bucks for two babies entire diapering life. yes very cheap. On top of that I'm helping the environment as you mentioned and not putting harsh chemicals on my precious babies bottoms :)

OK I digress I can get a little into diaper talk :)

I used G-diapers with my first son and had sooo many blow outs. I now use bumgenious cloth diapers and love them. I would think twice before getting G-dipaers as I know a few other people who also had issues with them too.

I think it's true with almost anything "green" it's so much more expensive.
