I spent about 4hrs in the ER lastnight. My twin girl had a piece of string or hair wrapped around her toe where is started to cut her toe.. I was so upset because I check her pj feet all the time and her toes to make sure..i dont know how it got by me. I am a nervous nelly of a mom. I heard about this before and it scared me.
i think I got it out before I wnet to the ER but just in case I went and they had to cut her toe and make sure it wasnt deeper then it was.. it was awful to watch her in pain..
I just wanted to give you all the info in case you didnt know.. just check their toes all the time.. worst case they could lose their toe due to poor circulation.. which is not somehitng you would want..
has this happened to anyone else?

Yes, about 2 months ago, I was giving my youngest a bath and saw his toe was really red. I looked closer and it was a piece of hair wrapped around it and it was on there really tight. I had my DH come and hold him while I got it off. Luckily, I caught it before it was too bad, but it did take about an hour for the toe to look normal again. I, too, check their toes all the time - especially now!!!
Very scary. I'm glad your little girl is okay:)

Glad to hear everything came out ok. We check often for that here but it is always good to see a reminder.

I check EVERY night at bathtime - fingers and toes...and one still got around Tessa during the day. Freaked me out as well, so i do a quick visual a few times a day (when i remember!)

I am so sorry to hear that happened to you!!! It has happened here too! (I think) I never found the hair but my poor Addison had a terrible cut on her toe - it was awful! I felt so bad because the way the cut was - that's the only thing it could have been - so now I check everyday. thanks for the post, you will help other new moms that may not have ever even thought about such a thing happening! I am glad that your dd is ok!

Poor kiddo! I check their toes every time I change diapers. I actually make a big production out of kissing their feet and they go nuts for it! Now as soon as I lay them down on the changing table, they hold up their feet for me to kiss.

    I'm so glad it's okay.

This happened to my youngest sister and my mom warned me all the time to check for strings, hair etc!

somtimes the sleepers have threads around the corners which can get twisted as the baby moves around alot and it can happen with your hair . and it can get in their toes or even their fingers if they are on the floor crawling.. they have chubby fingers and toes its hard to see it..
    does that make sense?

yes DD got one of her sister's really long hairs wrapped around her toe recently also. It was not fun getting it off. The hair wraps around and can cut off the circulation like a tourniquet!
