Hi, My DS1 was an angel until he hit 5 weeks, since then he's been whiney, clingy and fussy. How do you tell the difference between a baby's personality/dispostion/temperment and whether he's constantly fussy because he's hurting somewhere?

My boys were fussy from about 6-16 weeks. I think it's pretty typical baby behavior. I will get better.

Mine were really fussy from 1-4 months. If you are concerned, asked their dr. at your next appt. I promise that it will get better.

DS3 was colicky from about 5 weeks-10 weeks. He cried SOO much and was really hard to soothe.

Now he is the most MELLOW baby ever. Really only cries if he is hungry or tired. Otherwise, he is happy as a clam.

So the early day behavior didn't predict his temperament AT ALL!

Hang in there... fussy babies are TOUGH!

One of my daughters was exactly like this from 5weeks to 16weeks, she was colicky and had reflux issues and she is now the calmer and less demanding of my two! I hope he settles soon for you. I wouldn't be too worried unless he was off his food, no wet diapers or screaming as if in pain rather than just being whiny.

Most babies in general are fussy for the first few months. I think because its a total guessing game as to what is wrong or what they want. You think they need a diaper when they want to be fed, etc. It is so frustrating. Hang in there.

Thank you so much for posting! My babies always seem to be fussing - usually they are hungry. I have a nephew who's a month older than them, and my cousin's boy is 6 weeks younger than them. My babies are always fussing at family stuff, and the other two babies are good. Even if my babies just ate, they'll be fussing, hungry 2 hours later, while the other babies will go 5 hours without eating and still not cry!!

I have faith that it's all a phase and they will get better. I also believe it's partly because they are twins and singletons probably get held more than my babies.

    Good luck!!
