I thought it would be fun to share the funny stuff you've heard over the monitor lately... those little snippets of conversations that they have when you're not around.

Every morning, I awaken to things that make me laugh. The discussions tend to center on a few predictable topics:

Grandma and whether she's here or not
    "Dinnertime? Nooooooo, breakfast time!"
    "Pizza!"
Shouting "I love you" at each other
Naming people and following it with the word poopy (Grandma Poopy, Mommy Poopy, etc.)
Mimicry of me telling them not to do things
And, of course, "Maaaaaamaaaaaaaa, where are you?"

I'm loving this talking business! They totally crack me up.

Our language hasn't quite exploded to that stage yet. I'm anxious for it. Also, our boys have seperate bedrooms, so we don't get monitor conversations. Here's one from today:

Right after changing Nick I went down to the garage to throw out the muddy diaper. When I came back up Nick had pulled a stuffed bear down onto the coffee table, flipped him on his belly and was poking him in the butt saying, "poo poo" over and over again. He looked around to make sure no one was watching (I was hiding) and trotted off to his bedroom. He put the bear on the floor, got out the wipes, 'cream', and a diaper and went through a very thorough diaper changing. "Pee-EW you Steeen" he told the bear (in a perfect mimic of me telling him the same thing only moments before). He used the wipes, put on some cream and then put him in a clean diaper.

It was so much more fun to spy on his little personal adventure than to storm in on him. I am absolutely loving the stage they are in now.

mine are pretty boring - usually its Abby chattering "puppy" "zebra" "elephant" over and over and Ian just yelling "ABBY" like he's telling her to shut up!

That was adorable! Mine aren't near that stage yet, but I do have a funny about monitors...

About two months ago, clear as a bell at 3am over our monitor was a child saying very calmly "Mommy. Mooommmmy. Mooooommy." I sat straight up in bed, it scared the you-know-what out of me, at the same time as DH and he says "who the h*ll is that?" It wasn't any of ours! While we were getting the munchkins ready for bed one of them must have switched channels on us and we were picking up the ppl across the street and their almost 3yo

"wake-up Mommy, wake-up" and lately, hysterical laughing (and yes, it worries me what could be going on!)...

That is so cute!! I was wondering what age to get rid of the monitor, you just made me decide I'm going to keep it A LOT longer!!

We stopped using the monitors a long time ago. I do hear them when I go and get them. They are usually naming things in their room, "baseball, kitty ,dog, turtle, etc" As they are throwing their stuffed animals laughing. They do talk to each other in a little language but I don't know what they are saying. They are probably making fun of mom and dad.
I think I will put the monitor in the playroom when they get older. I am sure I hear some good stuff then.

Mine aren't talking much but a few days ago I put them down for a nap and after 10 minutes heard crying from one and "uh oh, uh oh" from the other. The crier had climbed out of her crib, gotten stuck between the crib, the dresser and the wall and was crawling out from under the crib. The other one was pointing at her with a look of concern.

We went to buy crib tents that afternoon.

My 2 1/2 year old twins are hilarious. Tess screams at the top of her lungs "hey hey you you I dont like your girlfriend" and Thomas retorts back 'no way no way (pause) you need a new one". (Avril Lavine from my ipod). Tess also feels the need to wake Thomas up if he is still sleeping and will throw books from her crib to his and scream "hey Tommy "peek-e-boo" and "wake up Tommy". I have sat outside their door for at least a half hour sometimes just laughing before I go in. It's a fun thing to listen to and something I hope I will always remember!

I was going to write the very same thing. My two are only 21 months, not long now. They blabble like crazy, but they're not clear. Still knowing that they probably will never stop, I'm anxious to hear what they'll have to say in the morings. How cute, you'll have to video tape the conversations or something.

Very much the same thing here, too:

    "Daddy? Yove you! (love you)"
    "Momma! Snuggle?"
"Puppy....mmmm....puppy!" (they have stuffed puppies they sleep with that they love)
    "<each other's names here> No! Don't touch, peeze! (don't touch, please)"
"Tank you (thank you). Yes...yove you so much! kiss! snuggle!"

and other things that we say to them during the day with some variation. So wonderful to listen to! So very affectionate and sweet...where did I end up with two of these little ones? I swear...they will melt me into a puddle of mush some day soon ;-)

We have a video monitor that we LOVE, and when we switched the boys to toddler beds we turned it on in the living room so we'd know what they were doing in there! When they started getting out of bed we'd yell to them from the couch (with the door still shut) "Stay in bed boys!" and they would RACE back to their beds and start talking to each other: "Did you hear that? Did you hear that? Mommy see us? How she know?"

It was awesome!!!! I loved watching their reaction when they heard our voices, they would stop dead in their tracks and race back to bed. Too funny.

Okay, it's a little bad to be "spying" on them at that age ( 2 1/2) but we have a split level and we sleep on a different level than them....so we still use the monitor at 3 1/2...and probably will for a long time.

I've had parents of teenagers tell us "oh, I should get one of those for my teens so I can see if they are sneaking out!" Hee hee--I think they'll figure out how big brother is watching fairly soon.

My girls are 2 1/2 and yesterday when Bridget woke from her nap I heard "Hey everybody I'm done!" They are in cribs with crib tents so she knew I would have to come get her. I was laughing so hard! ;)

ohm I here some pretty funny stuff from their nap times! I know that Zayne sleep talks, too, which I hear late at night when I am working on the computer.
McAuley likes to sing at the TOP OF HIS LUNGS when he is in bed...we have to go in and tell him to go to sleep.

When I am working at the computer and hear something funny, I try to take a recording of it with my microphone on our computer. I have caught a few funny ones, including them calling to eachother from the other room.

I've tried posting them online: Here is one - it's them calling back and forth
And here is another - Zayne singing "He is the King" (Jesus is King)

They are in seperate rooms....I have no idea how things would be if they were together!! CHAOS!! HA!

We can hear them from the living room and they do say the silliest things. When I go get them in the morning and from nap, Bea's new thing is to say "We not seeped! (sleeped)" It cracks me up.
