Hello. I'm still here in the hospital and I know I won't go home until I have these babies. At least thats what
I think. The Dr.'s don't tell me that, but they say I'm not going anywhere. My question to you all is I have a cold
with a cough. It kind of scares me because it puts pressure on my cervix. I feel it too. The Dr. this morning
said it's not good to cough a lot. But didn't act too concerned. I'm concerned because I am high risk right now
with my cervix. I had an ultra sound yesterday and the funneling is 0.6, my over all cervix is 3.8. They put
me on medicine for 3 days or so to try and control the funneling a little. I noticed that it has opened up a little.
The best way I can describe it is a crack opening up into the cervix. Now this cough is making me nervous!
Just another damn thing! Sorry- don't mean to vent. If anyone has ever had this situation happen to them,
let me know how you dealt with it. I'm taking cough drops and I have Robitessan too if need be- I feel like
I'm taking so many things, I really don't like that. Being here in the hospital does help, still miss home though :(

I would take the cough medicine if it helps control that. There are so few things you have control over now, right? I am sorry. :( Hang in there and feel better soon. Lisa

I hope the coughing stops. You don't need anything else. Hopefully they are watching you closely. :hug99:

I had the same problem when I was pregnant with the twins. I think the coughing is really not good, and I believe it caused some of the problems with my cervix which lead to PTL and delivering early. My trick with medication-free cough suppressant is to take a sip of water every time I feel the need to cough. Hold the cough, don't do it, and have a bottle of water nearby to drink just before you have to cough. For some reason this helps to lubricate you throat and teach yourself not to coughright away. I read somewhere that with colds, coughing doesn't help anyway to get anything out. It is really hard and requires a lot of mental discipline but this works to stop the cycle of continuous coughing and keeps you hydrated. HTH

i was right there with you last week! i came home from the hospital having diagnosed me with previa, stopped bleeding 3 days later and immediately got the flu! i was coughing so much and i was crying cause i was so scared that it would cause bleeding again. if i have 3 episodes i go into the hospital and don't come out until i deliver so it was really freakin' me out.

the water idea is a good one. it does help somewhat but in all honesty, i took tylenol for my fever and robitussin DM and increased my asthma meds for the cough. both are safe during pregnancy although obviously i wanted to avoid them unless absolutely necessary. i know it seems wrong to take drugs when pregnant but sometimes the risk of not taking them is higher than the risk of taking them. i have a history of bronchitis and asthma and all that good stuff and so i did it and it worked. (sending my husband and kids away for the weekend didnt hurt either :) ).

don't take anythign unless you talk to your doctor but ask them for some meds to help relieve the cough before it gets worse. you might just need one good dose to give you a good night's sleep to get through it.

I was wondering how you were doing. I would try whatever you can not to cough. I was told in the beginning of my pregnancy when I was really sick that coughing would not cause any problems, but this was without any other issues so I don't know. Talk to your dr and see what he says and ask him for some solutions. Hang in there. :hug99:

Hi Ladies. My cough is still here, I'm trying to control it. Drinnking water and taking cepecol cough drops.
I can take Robbitssian, but I haven't yet. I'm taking so many other things! I will take it if it gets bad.
The nurses/Dr.'s say it's ok. I've been here for 3 weeks, crazy....

Ask your doctors if Mucinex maximum strength is okay yo take. It works much better that robitussin and last week ity was the only way i could get any sleep during a cold i had. Not sure if is safe if you are pregnant, but i know it works bettter than anything i have ever tried. And it lass all night!

Hang in there, i know what your going through. I got the same answer when i asked when i would be able to go home. Three weeks is along time, i was there three and a half, but you are already further along than i got. Keep those babies cooking!
