I know this subject has been brought up before, but I'm just curious. For those of you who went into labor on your own, do you know if it was around a full moon? Some people think there's something to this and some don't, but it seems to make some sense...maybe? My DD was born on a full moon and I wonder what the chances are for these girls as well. At 36 weeks for me there will be a full moon, so....hmmmmm....

Here's a link showing the full moon dates for different years:

I went into labor at 39 weeks with DS on a full moon!!!! I am the ONLY person in my very large family that has ever had a baby before their due date with out having pre-e. Everyone else was on due date at the earliest... & most were 1-2 weeks past due. Also when I went to the hospital it was LOADED. I got the last room in the maternity ward & they had turned a waiting room with a bathroom & door into another room & then were sending women up stairs to the regular part of the hospital! It was craziness!!!! My SIL's mom works at the hostpial & says it happens everytime there is a full moon!

Thats funny, I will be 36 weeks with the girls when there is a full moon as well [IMG]

Well, I googled this and most places said that studies show no connection. One place said that they think you're more likely to have your water break on a full moon before going into labor. That's what happened to me with DD! My water broke and I had to be put on a small amount of pitocin to get my labor going (since I wasn't dialting past 1).

I guess I did. I started having regular contractions overnight on the 25th of Jan, 2005. Checked into the hospital on the 26th and delivered on the 27th. I had no idea it was a full moon. Thanks for the link.

With my older daughter I went into labor at 3pm, full moon was around 12am & she was born at 11:32am. My water didn't break until about 8 or 9am. The twins were born just after the new moon.

The nurses at the hospital I delivered said that they see more women go into labor during thunderstorms than full moons.

nope, no full moon labors here, but with my 2yo DD I went into labor durring a thunderestorm. I hear it has something to do w/ the barometric pressure dropping or something. hhmmm....

the nurse in L&D said they definately see a correlation, they are unbelievably crazy the days/nights surrounding the full moon. She said that it had something to do with the slightly greater gravitational pull. After sitting in the waiting room for an NST on a full moon I would have to say I believe!!

uh-oh, next full moon is april 2, which would be a little early for me. Given that they tried to pretend they were identical at the peri's on Halloween, I hope they won't try to pull anything for April Fool's Day. Thanks for the link!

I have no idea what the moon was doing at any time during my pregnancy. After 23 weeks, I don't think I even SAW the moon!!!

My peri is not at all a superstitious kinda guy. Not - at - all. But he says he gets nervous when the moon is full!

I will also be 36 weeks on a full moon, June 30! I have wondered about this myself. But DD was born on a new moon, and DS the first quarter. So it hasn't panned out for me so far!
