So the boys seem to get really frustrated with the mesh feeders...the get mad b/c they aren't getting anything out of it. Right now we are doing apples...have two more days of apples before they can have a new food. They figured out right away that it was food and start looking like little baby birds with their mouths opening when you come near them with them....once they start chewing on it and get nothing but juice...oh boy do they get mad. They had their 3pm bottles...then I gave them the apples...I ended up just giving them some cereal b/c they were so mad. What do you put in your mesh feeders? How do the babies react?

I put bananas in them. The boys sucked on them enthusiastically for a few minutes, then they chucked them on the floor. I picked them up, covered in dog hair, and promptly tossed them in the trash and never looked back.

I put ice in mine and use it for teething or maybe on a walk when it is hot. I have never put food in them though.

Mine never like the mesh feeders. Ever, no matter what food was in them. Have you tried just giving them applesauce to see if they are less frustrated?

We only used them for a short time, but watermelon worked well in them. something that's soft enough that they can actually squeeze some bits through the mesh.

Mine love frozen grapes in the mesh feeders (they suck them so much that they look like little raisons by the time they are done). They also like pieces of plum, or any other juicy fruit (haven't tried apple yet as I am not sure they could get enough from it). I have not done any messy fruits like bananas - if I feed them bananas I just feed them right off my finger using little pieces, no need for the mesh feeders for those.
Mine do throw them on the floor when they are done as well.

I love my mesh feeder, the girls are almost 6 months .

I started out with something easy like steamed pear and apple quarters, they were soft and warm so they knew it was food straight away and didnt have to work real hard to get it out while they were learning how to use it.

so, you could try steaming it. Messy though, this snack is best just before bath time

We then moved onto bananas. THey LOVE bananas!!!!! i give them a little sqeeze first to get some mush on the mesh, and they go like crazy! They can eat a banana between them in one sitting!! and they love banana from the fridge too. Although they are still gummy, i think it will be great for when they are teething.

Other things that i think would be great would be mango, watermelon, peaches (yum) oh and strwberries squished a little.

    best of luck!

Mango, pear, peach - anything nice and juicy. Some people also do soft avocado.
I kept ours in the diaper bag for outings. If we were at a restaurant, I could put some fruit in and keep the kids entertained.

I never did bananas because some mums said it was a real PITA to clean up. As for cleaning, the best advice I got was rinse immediately, then soak until you do a load of dishes. The little bits will float off.

My did not take to the mesh feeder. I am not sure if it is the feeling of the mesh in their mouths or not but ours got chucked in the trash after only a couple of tries!
