My babies are 18 weeks actual, 11 weeks adjusted. They still cannot completely lift their heads off the ground when they are on their tummies. I am feeling so frustrated because I thought that by this time they would be able to entertain themselves a little bit, or at least not be laying on their backs all the time still. I feel like it is something I have done, I know that sounds stupid. We do tummy time, but not a ton because they spit-up so much because of their reflux. I want them to be able to look around and play with toys and bee happier babies. I don't know what else to do for them.

Try not to be too frustrated!! Babies all develop on their own schedule. And my girls couldn't really entertain themselves until they were mobile!!

Do you have a playmatt? My girls did love their "zoogymini" but only for short spans.

hang in there, it will get easier!

I agree do not be frustrated!!

I hardly did tummy time with my two, it was so difficult to get through feedings and changes with them that tummy time was almost impossible...

They still developed right on track.

I have cried to my PED about development. I feel because of the reflux I do not put them down enough, Tummy time results in major puking. He said not to worry, they will get it eventually.

Try not to be frustrated with yourself. We too had reflux babies that spent minimal time on their tummies in the beginning due to puking. They loved the bouncies and the swing so that is what we did. They did like the lights on the playmat too. dont worry they will learn it will just take some time.

My girls didn't have reflux, but a sort of alternative tummy time you could do is to sit on the floor with your knees bent to about 45 degrees, leaning back against a couch or something, and place them tummy down on the tops of your thighs. Their heads will sit just above your knees, chins almost on them depending on how long they are/you are. So they still have to hold heads up, but they are on an incline. My girls loved to look around this way and tummy time lasted longer. PM me if you need me to explain the position more or better.

Please don't feel guilty! My girls both had reflux, but Ana was (and is!) my spitter while Meara was (and is!) my screamer. Meara spent way more time on the floor on her tummy compared to Ana because of the spitting. Who rolled over first? Who crawled first? Who is pulling up first? ANA!!! Meara rolled and crawled a little after Ana, but my point is it is ok and will all be fine. One thing I did with Ana was did tummy time on my chest or a boppy with a burp rag over it.
