I started buying the fruit already cut up, but it's in light syrup. It's better than heavy syrup, but should I avoid this? I know fresh fruit is the best, but this is SOOO easy...thoughts??? Thanks!

Not that this is right but I have been giving my boys the mandarin oranges in light syrup because they are so soft. They love it! I would like to know what other think.

I give it to my babies/kids. Fresh, I am sure is best, but easy is good too!

I don't think it's a big deal as long as they are getting a variety of foods. Sure, fruit without syrup is better, but sometimes you just don't have time to cut stuff up!

A lot of times the syrup is just sugar and water, which is better than high fructose corn syrup. But a fruit's a fruit LOL

of course fresh fruit is best but i too find it sooooooo much easier sometimes to give them canned fruit. i'm sure it won't hurt them in ANY way to give it to them in light syrup. if you are really concerned about it, you could always rinse the fruit under fresh, cold water before cutting it up for them. i usually buy the fruit that is served in concentrated fruit juice. many of the fruits are served in this, you just have to read the can carefully. I usually buy the store brand fruit that is served in Pear juice from concentrate.

Fresh is the best but if your like me you don't always have the extra $ to always buy it, especially in the winter. I've given my girls fruit in light syrup or fruit in fruit juice. They love it, if it keeps them happy, then I'm happy. :) At least there eating fruit, it could always be worse. :)
