From Bottle to Cup

I really want to avoid drawing this process out. Has it worked to just cut them off the bottle ? I don't want to seem mean, but I am sick of washing the Dr Brown's and actually heard a rumor they can be returned due to the whole BPA issue.

Mine are a lot older than yours, but a few weeks ago (when there were about 23 months), I decided to start transitioning to sippy cups because of the whole BPA plastic bottle issue. I was just going to try the morning milk in the sippy and transition the rest gradually, however, they really didn't care at all. So that very day we went entirely to sippies and have never looked back. Maybe just give it a try and see how it goes. They may not really care about the bottles. If they do complain, then maybe you could transition off of one bottle every week or few days.

We dropped one bottle at a time, so they were bottle free (except bedtime) at 12 months. Do they drink from a sippy at all? If they do, I would think you could just stop cold turkey.

Just FYI... the Dr. Browns returns are only in Canada.

We went cold turkey to sippy cups. Towards one year they were only getting one bottle a day (in the evening right before bed) and we just cut that out with no problem.

We dropped one bottle at a time, but we dropped another one every 5-7 days or so. So we went from 4 bottles to no bottles in just under a month. The girls didn't seem to have a problem with it at all -- not even with the after-dinner bottle. (The sippy cup seems to serve the same soothing function for them -- it's getting rid of the sippy that will be a problem! But there's no hurry about that.)

Actually it's a store by store policy here... I was able to at a local childrens store just by asking and received store credit.

Cold turkey just after their first birthday for us. DH pointed out that we always agonize over how we're going to make all these transitions, but the boys always do just fine, so we should just try cold turkey and see what happens. He was right, and they never seemed to miss the bottles.
