I have a friend who is pregnant with a sinleton and is just over 28 weeks. Her water broke on Monday and she called the hospital and the nurse told her it was prob. the baby pushing on her bladder. THe next day she went for an ultrasound and the dr. said her water had broke. That was 5 days ago. I never knew you could keep the baby in after your water breaks. ANyways, she is in California and I am here but I wish I would be there for her. Is there any suggestions you have that I could pass on to her? She is in the hospital on bed rest. ALso, have you ever heard of water breaking and not having to deliver the baby. Thanks so much for advice you may have.

Wow that is scary! I'm sorry I don't know much about what happens or how long you can keep a baby in after your water breaks. I know that keeping out infection becomes the main concern since the baby is now exposed to the elements.

I hope things work out ok for her and her baby! Keep us posted!

I was put in the hospital at 30 weeks after one of my twins ruptured her bag and I was leaking fluid until they delivered by c-section at 34 weeks. I never had a big gush of my water breaking, I thought I just couldn't hold my pee. The main thing when I was admitted was to put me on antibiotics to protect Sienna from infection and they told me that they would only allow me to go until 34 weeks. I continued to leak fluid the entire 4 weeks I was on bedrest, but I was on a fetal monitor and had ultrasounds to check fluid levels so they new everything was okay.

Everything turned out fine and I delivered two healthy girls.

    Good luck to your friend.

kstar- that is wonderful to hear that you were able to hold your babies for 4 more weeks! I am so glad that they were healthy. Thanks for that good outlook! She lives in Landera Ranch and is at a really great hospital.

As of Friday, her babys heartrate was good and she had no infections. She is now 30 weeks.

Her dh said it is really tough on her (as those of you in this forum probably know all too well)! I think she cant even use her laptop or email for whatever reason that they be.
