one of our LO's is great about STTN. he goes to bed and if anything needs his paci maybe 2x during the night.
one of our other LO's was a nightmare last night. is there a reason they wake? we do mylicon before their bedtime bottle to help prevent gas and it seems to be working well. any other tips or ways to keep the little guy asleep? my poor DH went into their room over 6 times and even had to hold him on the couch for a while. no signs of teething and he had a clean diaper.

 My kids would have sleep interuptions when they were getting sick or teething... besides the normal up 2-3 times a night to eat at that age. Can you try a little tylenol at bedtime to see if that helps? It is getting to be about that time for teeth. Just a thought. You have an angel for a dh.

i know. my DH is amazing. :)
we were at the doc about 2 weeks ago and she said their gums weren't swollen.
    could they still be teething?

We would have good nights (or weeks) and bad. I think the bad ones were there to make me appreciate the good ones more.

Ear pulling adn rubbing can mean tiredness but it can also be a sign of an ear infection or an inflamed throat/ear. Is your LO off his food or drink at all? I´d try and give a little tylenol before he goes to bed and see if that helps. Hope he sttn soon!

count your blessings that your doing as good as you are. I don't think we did that well even although honestly I can't remember - funny how we do that otherwise none of us would have more kids!

The only other thought I had is that if it is a chronic thing it may be something to discuss with a doc. Our DS has always been a poorer sleeper than DD. We just figured out he needs his adnoids out - doc says his sleeping should improve right away.

More than likely it isn't an issue but for some kids it can be.

If it isn't chronic at that age I'd let him CIO. It sounds mean and horrible and it will be hard on you but teaching them to sleep is a gift to them and your whole family.

Sometimes it's hard to figure out what bothers them, if anything. My daughter was a terrible sleeper. I was still attending her several times at night when she was 3 (and 5) years old. I had a suspicion that her adnoids were enlarged and she breathed through her mouth which made her mouth very dry.
It eventually woke her up several times.
It turned out I was right, but it took over two years and a different pediatrician.
I'm not suggesting that your baby has the same problem, but sometimes we don't know what could bother them.
In any case, I always attended my daughter. I never let her cry. Call me crazy. After her adnoids and tonsils were removed, she never woke up again. She's been sleeping the night through and even if she wakes to take a sip of water, she falls right back to sleep.
Do whatever feels right for you.

They do seem to go through phases where they just don't sleep as well. Sometimes, you will never know what it was that was bothering them. Teething, growth spurts, or developmental stages can all cause sleep disturbances. Hopefully, it will be a short-lived phase!
