Right now I have my tv and video/audio and workout out machine (no time to use) blocked off by the superyard.
The superyard blocks off part of tv so no more watching subtiltes movies...
anyway, I was thinking of getting a free standing gate but the ones I researched all say pet gates, so I"m wondering
if the lo's would be able to move them.
I cannot drill into this space as it is kind of an open rectangular shape....

even if I removed the workout machine, I still have all the video/dvd/ stuff

Decorading/furnishing the house without kids was sooooooooo different...if I only knew that what I know now....

How do you block off things like these?

not sure if this would work or not its the same idea as the superyard, but has a gate in it. the metal 3-in-1 superyard by North States Industries.

We have it and were able to attach it to the walls, but it also is freestanding.

I would not waste your money on a free standing gate. They may not be able to move it now, but they will as they get older. Mine are 22 months and unless I install the entire superyard verses putting the panels across an area they can move it with no problem. For awhile I would take 4 of the 6 panels and make a box and I was using it as their time out area. They would push on it from the inside and could tip over the entire thing.

Are you trying to keep them from pushing the buttons on the dvd/vcr? If so they make these plastic panels that go under the unit then across the buttons.

I have a giant 55" rear projection tv thats about 8 years old. They can turn the tv on and off and will push all the other buttons on it. I have yet to find anything that will work.

I have that big tv too! I wish it would brake down to give me an excuse to buy a new one!
I mainly want to keep them from where all the dvd/audio is because of all the cables and wires.. ds also loves
to pick and carry things so I think he would really go for that...

Mine figured out how to move the superyard at 14 months, so I'm done using it to block things. But yeah unfortunately it means that there is nothing at all in the living room/dining area, just my computer which is locked behind a door, but they still get the keyboard/mouse etc, no matter how many times I tell them not to.

But it won't last! Within 2 years they'll be better about touching things...

Yeah, I forgot that ours can move the superyard too... whenever we use it its on carpet... but on hard surfaces they were working as a team to move with it!

We had to get a TV stand with glass doors across the whole front, then installed the magnetic release locks - like THIS. Then we bought TV Armor for the TV (link HERE)- best baby proofing money I've spent.
