i am having fraternal twins and due in june. yay!
since my twins are fraternal, is there really anyway that i can have them vaginally or is it 'easier' for them to be done via c-section. there is no way in hell i'm going to push one out and c-section the other, lol!

also - does the doc ever tell you when you'll be going in, prior to 40 weeks?

Congratulations on your twin pregnancy and WElcome to TS!!

The fact that your twins are fraternal or identical does not have any bearing on whether or not you will be able to deliver them vaginally or by c-section. It depends on the position of the babies when that time comes, and plenty of other factors.

When do you usually find out the 'birth plan?'

I think every pregnancy is different as is every Dr, it really just depends on your situation.

I am most likely having frats (di/di boys) and still haven't made my mind up about c/s vs vag....there are requirements that most OB have in order for you have a vag delivery but they vary from doc...its a good ? for your next appt what their requirements are, and it depends on how comfortable your OB/Peri is with all this.
I still don't have a birth plan per se....but I am leaning towards trying a vag delivery.

Ditto pp's, it doesn't matter what they are, what matters is how they are presenting. And they can roll around and switch around up until the day they come out! :D

For me, I had 2 prior c/s so I don't have a choice, but even so my babies one is head down and one is transverse, they won't do a vaginal or VBAC unless both is head down.

Congrats, welcome to the site and good luck! I just now got my c/s date set up today at basically 32 wks! :D

I had intentions of a vaginal delivery my entire pregnancy, however my BP spiked in my 35th week. Rather than induce labor and wait and wait and risk any complications, we had a section. So your plans don't always work out. :)

Hi and welcome to TS!! Congrats on your twins!!

I had fraternal girls and had planned on a c-section my entire pregnancy not because they were fraternal, but because of the way the were positioned. I ended up having a vaginal birth because they both went head down at around 33 weeks. It most definitely is possible to have a vaginal delivery for both- the percentages are low for a vag birth and c-s. I was also worried when I was preggers about that very thing! I am SOOOOO glad I was able to do a vaginal birth. **TMI warning:** I won't lie though, it was weird to feel the doctor "retrieving" baby b and positioning her into the birth canal- thank God for epidurals!

Also, I remember beginning to discuss my birth plan around 20 weeks. It's never to early to ask your OB about that, though, that's what you pay them for!

    Good luck!!

I had my twins vaginally and I think vaginal birth should always have the preference UNLESS there are medical issues and reasons to have c/s. My belief (and my doc's as well) is that "twins" are NOT a reason for c/s perse. I am still surprised of the number of comments I get when I tell them I had mine vaginally ... complete shock. Plenty of twins are born vaginally. My girl was head down, my boy was born with a breech extraction. They started Pitocin at 6 am, they were born at 10.32 and 10.36 am. And close to 8lbs a piece.

I am not saying vaginal birth is for every one and every situation, but definitely look into all options.

I agree! Mine were induced and both born vaginally. They were both head-down the night before delivery but when A came out after 3 hours of pushing, we discovered B was breech again ... so he was born 7 mins later by breech extraction! (Also thankful I'd gotten an epidural!)
