We went for our big 18 week level 2 U/S yesterday and the first meeting with the Peri. I really liked the Peri he was very laid back but informative and answered all my questions in a lot lore detail than my OB. He was also able to confirm they were B/G as soon as he turned on the u/s machine...WoooHooo...I got my girl!! :D .

He said everything looks great at this point they both match up at 8oz right now and that with fraternal there is less problems I could encounter. He doesnt see me again for 6 weeks (24 weeks preggo) and then every month from then on, and my Ob only see's me once a month till the 3rd trimester, is this normal? I know a lot of woman with twins are seen more frequently from what I've read on here, do you get seen less if the babies are fraternal? I feel good about both my doctors, I'm usually really picky and its easy for them to rub me the wrong way, but both my peri and ob are great so far, I'm just wondering if its normal to only see them this often...My ob only did a planned u/s at 6 weeks the other two I had to call him because I needed to know everything was ok.

I am definatly an over reactor and a worrier....I wont relax till their in my arms and even then I'll be worried about other stuff...LOL.....Thank god for the movement monitors thats the only way I got any sleep when my son was a newborn

No, your care should be the same even if they are Frats. You just won't have to worry about TTTS. Carrying twins is still high risk. You will do fine. I think I went about every 4 weeks after htting the 24 mark up until the 32 then it was every 2 weeks and eventually every week. Hugs, M

I went like you are describing, except I haven't ever seen a peri, just my OB. I think he started asking for me to come every two weeks starting around week 24, which is slightly earlier than the "3rd trimester" you said. Then, we did "low-tech" (just measured my belly and used the portable doppler to check hb's) every other appointment, and U/S monthly. The only extra he did for me because of the higher risk status of twins was he had me do the glucose screen twice - once at 8 weeks (when we first saw the twins) and again around week 22.

Congrats on getting your girl!! I was very excited to get mine, too!! I know what you mean about worrying - I can barely work right now because I just think about them ALL the time.

Good luck in your pregnancy - I hope everything continues to go well.

I saw an OB only for my di/di boys. The visits were monthly until the 3rd trimester and then I went bi-weekly for a while and finally weekly (can't recall what week). I had ultrasounds at 8.5 weeks, 20 weeks, and then monthly after that.

I always felt like they were receiving enough care given the lack of any complications.

I was the same i got a u/s every 4 weeks and saw my midwife every 6 weeks. I think having a doctor you are comfortable with makes all the diference x

YAY for your girl! I kind of(really) wanted B/G but God blessed us with G/G so I'm jealous! but anyways I see my OB every 4 weeks and my specialist every 2 weeks until I think 20 weeks and then its every 2 weeks for OB and still every 2 weeks for the specialist but I have mono/di twins so I think thats why I see the specialist so often.

about appointment I was told that I will see my ob once a month until 24 weeks ( I don't know how offen it woudl be after that) and I will have the us every third week with peri after 20 weeks. but so far I am having the us every other week. 16, 18 and 20 these are already scheduled.

I, like you, have b/g, and because they were measuring exactly the same at my first peri appt at 21 wks, I didn't go back for 6 wks, and then it was 4 wks, and my next appt will be 4 wks, putting me at 35 wks 4 days and likely my last peri appt.

I saw my ob monthly up until 26 wks, had one 2 wk appt at 28 wks, and then it's been weekly with weekly cervical checks since then.

Your schedule sounds the same as mine. Congrats on your B/G twins.

    Congrats!
Twin pregnancies are NOT high risk per se, there are just more things to watch for. But since you're 100% sure they're fraternal (boy / girl), there are indeed less risks involved, which is only favorable.

I never saw a peri. I had an earlier pregnancy, full term, no complications. However, the check up schedule compared to my first was more frequent with more frequent u/s. With the twins my OB saw me every 4 weeks up to 16 weeks, every 2 weeks up to 28 weeks and every week after that.

I had u/s at 20w, 26w (was away at 24w), 30w and 34 w (besides the one at 6w when we found out) and NST's at 36 and 37 weeks. I was induced at 38w2d.

My schedule for the boys was the same as with baby girl...as I had no indications of anything more serious or requiring more attention. Had that been the case, my OB would have seen me more frequently (or so he said at our initial meeting).

Once a month until 32 weeks. Then once every two weeks until 36 weeks. Then weekly until 38 weeks, then twice a week after 38 weeks. Of course, anything after 36 weeks was only applicable to my baby girl as I delivered the boys at 36 weeks.

The main difference was that I had an u/s at almost every appointment (except one I think) with the boys and I only got 3 with baby girl.
