I went to my regular 35 week doctors appointment yesterday. While there my blood pressure was high and I had protein in my urine so they wanted to have me monitored for a few hours at the hospital. That turned into an overnight stay and a diagnosis of pre-e. So the short version is tonight around 5 p.m. our twins will be born. So my husband says he has arranged a huge fireworks diplay for them tonight. Ha Ha. It's been quite the 24 hours.

Good luck! Do you know there have been at least two famous sets of twins born on the 4th of July? Esther and Pauline Friedman were born 90 years ago today (you may know them better as Dear Abby and Ann Landers, Landers passed away six years ago and Abby has since turned over her column to her daughter but is celebrating her 90th birthday today in Minneapolis) while NBA players Harvey and Horace Grant were born 43 years ago on July 4, 1965. They played a combined 28 years in the NBA. So let's hope we get to add your twins to that exclusive 4th of July celebrated twins list!

Just wanted to give a quick update: :hug99:
We delivered the twins at 5:45 and 5:46 p.m. on July 4th by C-section at 35 weeks. They did not require any special care (oxygen, etc) at delivery. I did require some oxygen and a 24 hour dose of Magnesium Sulfate which really took alot of out me for the first few days. DH was wonderful taking care of me and the babies. Shelby Marie and Bodie Joseph are in the special care nursery as they call it here. They have been a little slow eating (requiring me to exclusively pump) and Shelby required a short 36 hour stay in an incubator (not for temp., but to conserve calorie intake). They have both been improving on each feeding and we hope to have them home this weekend. I was released on Tuesday, but the hospital is letting us stay in a parental accomodation room so we can stay near them. We just can't bear to leave them. We are getting in the swing of being first time parents and starting to develop a routine. Thanks for all the well wishes. They helped to past those long last hours waiting to meet our babies.

    Bodie Joseph born @ 5:45 5 pounds 3 ounces, 18 inches long
    Shelby Marie born @ 5:46 4 pounds 13 ounces, 17 inches long

I'll try to get my husband to add pictures soon!
