Hey all, quick question. I noticed a couple of new cracks in my foundation wall now that the snow’s melted. Is this just normal seasonal shifting, or something I should actually be concerned about? Would love to hear what others think.

Cracks that appear after the thaw can often signal deeper problems than just minor movement. The freeze-thaw cycle in our region causes the soil to expand and contract, putting stress on foundation walls. Small cracks may seem harmless, but if they widen or appear near windows, corners, or door frames, they could indicate structural instability. A proper inspection is essential to determine if repairs or full replacement might be needed. For those considering foundation replacement in Ontario and Manitoba https://groundhogs.ca/foundation-replacement/ , it’s worth contacting professionals with regional expertise. Groundhogs has experience navigating the effects of local climate and soil conditions on foundations, offering tailored solutions that address both visible damage and hidden stress points.
