I'm expecting twins in Feb. I plan to bottle feed not breatfeed. I know breast milk is better but I have to go back to work when the twins are 8 weeks old and they will be in daycare so we decided bottle feeding will better for now. I was wondering those of you who did not breast feed what type of formula did you use or recommend?

We pretty much used the formula the hospital gave us-they started us on Similac Advance. Since our babies were very gassy we then moved to Similac Sensitive.
Make sure you sign up with the big formula companies: Enfamil, Nestle Good Start and Similac: on the websites, they will send you formula coupons. Helps save some money off of that stuff! Also ask your hospital or pediatrician about free cases of formula. The nursery contacted the hospital Similac rep and we got two cases of formula in the mail. Good luck!

My girls were preemies so for the first 4 months they were on Similac Neosure. Once they got bigger and their pedi gave us the OK to switch them to regular formula we started using Costco Kirkland brand formula. It has saved us a ton of $$$ and IMO it's the same as the other stuff. Formula is regulated by the FDA so that prevents them from cutting corners.

You kind of have to try different ones out to see what works best for your babies. We started out bfing and supplimented with Enfimil then Goodstart and now generic brand from Sam's Club-they dont even like the expensive stuff anymore-lucky for me!

We use Enfamil with Lipil b/c that's what they got in the hospital...it depends on the babies though.

I used Target brand formula after I was finished pumping. I would highly recommend it!

I pumped for the first 4 months, and supplemented with formula. In the hospital they had similac advance in the pre-made 2oz containers. If you ask, the nurses may give you some to take home. They gave us around 20 packs of 4!! When that was done, we used the Target sensitive one for a while, but it constipated my daughter. We now use the Costco kirkland brand, and love it. It saves a lot of $$, and no problems with constipation or gas.

I´m based in Spain so we have different brand names. We were on Nenatal for the first couple of months as they were "preemies" and then they moved to normal formula. They´ve been on anti-colic and various other formulas and are now on AR formula which is by Blemil. Im hoping their pedi changes them at their 6-month appt!

mine were on pumped BM while in the hospital, after the freezer stash ran out i used similac, enfamil, walmart brand, and a few others including a sensitive and lactose free version of each. they had horrible tummy pains and pooping problems. i switched to nestle good start after reading that it was easier for them to digest and they were fine. then at 3 months we went on WIC and dd's body had matured enough to handle regular formula so she's on similac advance now. ds had horrible pains, eczema, etc and they put him on enfamil nutramigen. i loved goodstart though. if i had to buy it myself i would still be using it. i used to get 1 purple can (doesnt have DHA and ARA) and one orange can (has DHA and ARA). the purple can is bigger and $4 less. then i'd just do 1/2 and 1/2 lol but im cheap/poor

I also always bottle fed from the second they were born. Before the girls were born I had a pedi appointment where I met the pedi and I asked her what formula the girls would be on. I would do the same if I were you, call your pedi and ask!

When they were born they got Neosure and EBM. Then Derek had a milk allergy so we needed to use Alimentum for him and then Enfamil AR with Tyler for reflux. So I wouldnt buy too much of one thing since their needs may change over time. But you can always start with what your Ped recommends.

I did the same thing....definately recommend it, it helps you get to know your pedi too.

Hospital had us on Similac and then we found out they were lactose intolerant - we switched to Isomil...I liked it MUCH better than Enfamil ProSobee - it dissolved better in water....

once mine stopped throwing up with the Isomil I hated to mess with a good thing so I never switched to anything cheaper

When we went to Formula we tried a few different brands but the best and most cost effective I've found is the Walmart brand Gentile which is a low lactose one for senstive tummies.
