I have a friend who swears by this for her son's reflux. I'm almost at my wits end with my daughter and am thinking about trying this. I get so frustrated (not at her...but for her) for all the spitting up. She's already on Prevacid (since January) and the amount of spit up is driving me insane....I guess I'm a bad person because I get so frustrated for her...and at all the stains we have on our funiture, my clothes, our carpets. I just get so sick of it. It's almost like I don't even want to hold her because I know I'll set spit up on...multiple times...and that is sad. Poor little pea...I get so angry too...she's hungry for God sake, and it's no wonder...she spits up so almost everything she eats these past few weeks.

So, I'm willing to try almost anything (my Mom swears I should boil barley and feed her the cooled water...not sure I'm ready to try that).

Wondering if anyone has ever tried this thickener?

I don't use SimplyThick because it seems outrageously expensive. Instead I make my own and it works great. You may prefer the convenience of a pre-made commercial thickener though. We spend so much on formula though that I couldn't imagine buying a $156 bulk order of SimplyThick. I can get 8 oz of xanthan gum locally for $8-$14, which last us a couple of months.

We used it for DS1 and were very happy with the reduced spit-up. I agree about the cost though. I usually bought mine off of ebay for much less than the simply thick website.

I might try the 'starter kit' off the website and it works well, then I'll either make my own going forward or just buck up and buy it...anything is better than dealing with spit up.

I take it you've tried the Enfamil thickened? Not as expensive as the Simply Thick, nor as time consuming as making your own thickener. We have found that the spit up has been drastically reduced with that formula.
