When you put formula in the sippy cups do you warm it or leave it cold? Mine are learning to drink from sippies and I don't want to waste the formula. If it goes in cold it will be good for 2-hrs, if it's heated, then it's only good for one hr. They give weird looks when it's cold.. just curious to see what other mama's did

I make it room temp in their sippy cups and always have done with their bottles too. In the winter, I warmed it but not too much.

My girls always had room temp. bottles, so that is what I did when I put it in their sippies as well.

I got mine on cold formula toward the end of the first year that way I could make up a days bottles the night before and just have to get one or two out of the fridge for a feeding. So they got cold formula in their sippies too.

I did not do too much formula in the sippies because mine would not drink it out of the sippies (water on the other hand, they would suck down)...but when we tried, we would do room temperature.

I voted other. I didn't give formula in sippies all too often, but when I did, it was room temp, just like their bottles.

I always warmed formula. It seemed to make it dissolve better and the kids liked it better too.

I just make it in a bottle (shaker bottle) as I call it....then put it in the cup

Same here. If they didn't finish it, it went in the fridge for later. Then they drank it cold. We did the same with bottles and I knew they would be drinking cold milk so wanted them to get used to it. When my kids get warm food, they give me that look! They aren't used to even their food being any warmer than room temp.

I never gave formula in a sippy cup at all. All formula that I gave was room temperature in a bottle. Sippy cups were only for water and milk once they were drinking that. (My pedi told me to do it this way, that way the transition away from both formula and the bottle happened at the same time).

Thanks for your replies ladies. I'll try a few different things and see what works best for us. We currently warm the bottles before giving it to the babies, but I give them cold/room temp water. They're not picky with the formula though, a few times I couldn't heat em up and they finished them just fine.

P.S. When does teething get better? [if ever.. haha!]

We're just getting started with sippy cups. What I've been doing is putting any remaining formula from their bottles into their sippies. That way, I'm wasting less formula because they actually drink a little more of it when it's from the sippies. I haven't reduced their bottle feedings when introducing them to sippy cups. They just sometimes leave a couple ounces of formula from feedings so I take the opportunity to get them to learn to use the cups. I take the cups away from them when the formula reaches its "deadline."
