Formula Fed...How often do you feed at the same time?

My twins are 11 weeks old today( 3 weeks adjusted) and are almost at the point that I can bottle feed both of them at the same time. They both woke the other night at the same time, so I tried it out, and it didn't go too bad! They both have pretty bad reflux, and we just switched from Zantac to Prevacid, therefore I fed them in their bouncy's.

Do you only feed at the same time if they are awake at the same time? Our schedules are usually 30-45 apart giving time to feed, burp and go back to sleep before the other one wakes up. However, my little girl can sleep 5 hours at night but my little man can not, and sometimes they end up awake at the same time.

I love the idea of getting feedings over quicker since they are not sleeping through the night yet and I can use all the sleep I can get!

I feed my twins at the same time at night and whenever I am alone. I use milk maid bottle props which are a big help!

I feed mine together every time. The only exception is if one wakes at night, which is very rare these days. It's usually DS that wakes up, I give him 2oz formula watered down with 2oz water just to keep him going til 7:30ish then I get them both up. It makes things so much easier, I spend about 20-30 mins feeding them and then I have more time to spend with them. They also go down for naps at about the same time too, giving me more time for myself! My twins are just about 3 months too.

I tried both ways and decided both at the same time was the best. It definitely allows you to get more sleep! Have you tried the Podee bottles? I waited too long to get them, and my boys wouldn't use them. They were used to fast flow nipples, and they weren't willing to work hard to get the milk. I wished I'd tried them sooner. Good luck!

Our girls are fed at the same time almost every feed. They seem to be on the exact same schedule and want to be fed at the same time. I also like that it gives me more time to do other things and the feeds don't take as long.

Congrats on being able to feed them at the same time. I remember when I was finally able to do it and it felt great! [IMG]

During the day I've fed at the same time by myself many of times. However, I have never tried it at night. I've always had a 2nd person . . . THANK GOODNESS! Good luck doing it on your own.

Ours were on a 3 hour feeding schedule forever and we slowly eliminated the evening/night feedings. If one woke up, we always woke up the other to feed. They have always been fed at the same time.

I feed them at the same time all but one feeding. I do the night feeding alone so I do one at a time, whoever is awake. I am still feeding both no matter what.

Hi my girls are 3 1/2 mos now,and to be honest, I'm just not consistent with feeding them all the time. When they were waking at night to feed my DH and I did the "man to man" coverage. He would take one and I the other and we would feed them whenever. During the day if they happen to want to eat at the same time I do, but I honestly prefer them to be about a half hour apart. DD Rebekah is a very finiky eater and if she isn't hungry she won't eat...so if DD Rachel is hungry and I try to feed Rebekah it won't work. So, feeding them at different times has worked for me the best. Plus, I have two other children that I take to an from school all the time, so that makes a difference as well. This also allows me to snuggle with the one who is eating! [IMG] I honestly think if you can feed them both at the same time, do it, otherwise do what works for you!

Never! I always fed mine one after the other. The rule of thumb was, he who cried first, ate first. One the rare occation that they wanted to eat at the same time, I would feed Jon first since he ate faster, and then feed Marc--he needed to burp every ounce. I think I can count on one hand the number of times that one had to cry while I fed his brother--actually, I only remember once.

Mine were on a 4 hour feeding schedule from birth.

As often as possible...the only exception now is when one occasionally wakes at night, I no longer wake the other to feed since they generally sleep through. I used to feed the crying one and then wake the other...feeds were taking >1hour each, every 3.5 - 4 hours. Now I use Milk Maid bottle props, sometimes holding one and propping other, sometimes propping both (i.e. while making dinner.) When I prop one and hold other, I rotate.

I have always fed mine at the same time if they were both hungry - about 50% of the time. I used 2 boppys on the couch or sitting in their car seats. We still use the boppy's on the floor. My only challenge in the beginning was burping. One would always spit if it took too long to burp the other, especially my refluxer.

I almost never took care of my girls alone during the first year (isn't that lame?), but the few times that I did, I fed at the same time. It usually went fine, even though they weren't used to it. Basically as long as you can get the bottles in their mouths and they can drink, they'll be happy.
