I just wanted to see what else people are doing, we are trying to trim back expenses and we have been using bottled water for the babies' formula and I'm wondering if you think tap water is ok?

    Thanks!

Definitely tap unless you have some concerns regarding your water supply.

I used Nursery water until the boys were about 10 months old then we switched to tap. I dont like/drink tap water unless I have to so I figured if I dont why make the boys. They used tap water for formula for one month they they were off formula at 11 months. They do however drink tap waterall the time now.

We've always used tap water. It doesn't bother us since our city's water is pretty good.
But, if you don't want to pay the money for bottled water and aren't comfortable with using tap water, you can check to see if there's a place in town where you can buy purified water by the gallon. We have a place here that sells it and I can get five gallons for $.59 cents, and ice too. It was a nice alternative to tap water when I was pregnant (I hated the taste of it!).

I've used bottled water since the boys were born...only because I don't like drinking tap water, and I don't want to subject the boys to something I won't do myself...

    Hope this helps!

I'm about to start w/ powdered formula and did some research. Before 6 months, they are not supposed to get very much flouride. Most tap water has plenty of flouride. So I wanted to use bottled, but some bottled has flouride. So I went to the arrowhead site and their DRINKING water has the least amount (usually no flouride) So that is what i'm using until at least 6 months. Then I want to talk to the ped about getting flouride. I need to be convinced they really need it. If they do, I will use our regular bottled water.

I use both. We use water straight from the faucet - more often from a Brita pitcher but we also use bottled water. I prefer the bottled water but like you said it's expensive plus, in our case, it's not very environmentally friendly. Our parish recycling program still isn't up and running again. <_<

I always used tap water. Sometimes tap water that has been run through our Pur pitcher, but usually straight from the tap, it tastes good. When traveling we sometimes use bottled because the change in water can make our kids gassy.

We use tap. We asked their pedi how the water was here, he said more than fine. If he had said it was not ok then we would have used bottled. What is funny is we bought a thing of bottled water and kept it refilled with tap water for a long time b/c my mother in law would have freaked if she knew for the first two months or whatever that we were using tap...so we just didn't let her know LOL

We only used bottled water. My girls have never had tap water. Too many chemicals for me.

With my 3 singletons, I used tap water from about 3 months on if we used any formula. The twins have only gotten formula and we have only used Nursery water. Where we live now, our city water is yellow... yes, yellow :gag: I only use tap water for bathing, laundry and washing dishes.

Filtered tap water since 8 weeks old (before that we used the pre-mixed formula, and they also were getting breast milk).

We used britta water until they were 9 months old, then switched to tap. Our pedi said that when they get teeth, they need flouride.

When you guys are saying that you use tap water do you boil it? I actually use bottled water and still boil it, am I being a freak? My boys were really colicy so I didn't want to risk anything.

If you're concerned you may consider getting your water tested.

We've used both. We have a well so we had to boil our tap water before we gave it to them. We used to just boil a bunch ahead of time and store it in a bunch of bottles ready to add the formula.

We used filtered water from the tap with the twins and then just straight tap water with Dax. As long as the water is clean and the babies aren't still preemies (which pretty much all city water is here in the US) then there shouldn't be a problem with the tap. Taste preferences aren't really an issue as the formula covers up pretty much everything and tastes pretty bad anyway. ;)
