how soon after having your C did you feel up for close family visitors at the hospital? also, if you have an older dc, when did s/he come to visit? my C is scheduled for 11:30 in the morning. i'm guessing that dh should plan to bring our 4 yo dd to the hospital to visit the next morning. or, is that too soon? honestly, i don't want her to see me if i'm going to be in really bad shape. she has a bday party that day and i can talk to her on the phone and she can be distracted for 24 hours, if necessary. what do you all think?

with the birth of my dd, my son (who was 19 months at the time) was waiting for us when we got done. it was nice to include him. i plan on having my ds (now 4) and dd (3) there during and after. i just want them to be involved and not feel like outsiders. that's just what works for us, though. you have tod o what you feel comfortable with. as for me, i didn't have any problems.

Yep.. us too. My mom will bring DS (4) to the hospital after I am out of recovery and in my room.

I had my twins at night so my boyfriend bought my DS that next morning. I didn't get out of recovery until about 12:30a.m.-1:00a.m,; so he would have been asleep when I got out of recovery. And he came to see me at the hospital everyday. I loved to have visitors at the hospital. Get it over at the hospital so when you get home you won't have to worry about everybody trying to come over then. ;) Hope this helps.

Emily was at the lake when I had the twins. I had the girls at 1:45pm and recovery was in my room. At that point I had my mom, MIL, sisters and DH there the entire time. My SIL brought Emily that afternoon, so she was there only a couple of hours after I had them.

Trust me, you will be on some pretty good pain meds, and plus you will still be numb from the spinal for awhile afterwards. Mine wore off early, but the pain meds took care of that. For me, what was kind of icky the rest of that day wasn't pain. It was the shakes, and I was soooo hot and felt dehydrated.

You will want to see your daughter afterwards and she will want to see you. I know I couldn't wait til Emily got to the hospital. Plus I had a TON of visitors that day.

I think that once you are in your room you should be fine for visitors (as long as the c goes well). Only my mom and dad and my IL's popped their heads into my recovery room and then they went off to the NICU for the girls' first bath. After that, we had a few people visit that day, but I was in my bed mostly until about 8 pm that night until I got to go go the NICU. I felt fine for visitors. Since my c/s wasn't scheduled, most ppel were at work that first day (it was a TUes) and no one really came until later that week.

I have had 6 c-sections and each time, I was up for visitors and kids about 1/2 hour after I got out of Recovery.

honestly the day the I felt best was the first 24 hours after my surgery. It was after that when the spinal meds finally wore off that I started hurting more! LOL!... I think my mom brought my 20 month old that evening to the hospital. We didn't have her stay too long. And she did come back another day while I was there...

I was knocked out for my c-section because my spinal wouldn't take. I woke a few times in and out in recovery with just DH and my nurses and/or doctor there. I stayed in recovery for about 4 hours (mostly asleep) and they wouldn't allow other family back. They wheeled me to my room about 5 am and my mom, dad and inlaws were waiting on me. I had not got to see the twins yet since I was out when they were born, so they brought them to me immediately after I got over in my bed. I was fine for visitors at that point (health wise) but would sleep on and off due to medication (and we had been up all the previous day and night in labor). Once I got situated, everyone left (except DH) since they had also been up all night and came back the next afternoon. I was also up that afternoon walking or should I say, shuffling to the bathroom. It really wasn't that bad and I'm a big wuzz!

I had Trevor at 5:07pm and after I was finished in recovery and in my room, my IL's, my parents, DH and my oldest DD came to see me, they were all waiting at the hospital. I was fine with it.

I too was most comfy after my spinal. My in laws actually visited me while I was in Recovery. It was nice to be numb on half my body while dealing with them and all their questions! I was in the most pain the day after when the gas was built up and pain meds couldn't help that. I was also very hyper and talkative after my spinal. I don't know if it was all the adrenaline or if it was the meds, but I'm glad people where there the first day. They didn't worry about me as much the next couple of days. HTH!

Good luck on your delivery! I'm so excited for you that you'll be holding your boys soon!

I left the surgical suite and went straight out the doors to my waiting family (I was in a bed with a twin on each arm). My dr. wheeled me down the hall to my room with my dh following right behind. My family followed us in and watched the babies get cleaned up better and held them right away. I couldn't feel much, so it was all good. I watched my family hold my babies and was happy as a lark. They asked if I wanted to hold them, but I was kinda shakey and cold, so I was happy watching them meet their aunt, their grandparents and their cousins. My brothers came by the next day as did coworkers and friends. My twins were born at 6:55 pm, so the next day was better for friends and coworkers to visit.

I was in recovery for 3 1/2 hours and my mom and dad, my brother and SIL, my 2 best friends all visited me while I was in there. When I was transfered to my room I had a PCA pump so I was good...and up for visitors. As for the next day I didn't want anyone in my room, I just wanted to sleep!
