My DD is very skinny waist wise she is still 12 month, length wise she 18-24 month She has a short torso so one pieces tend to be very long in the crotch I know she is going to be leggy like me and my sister (we both have 34 in inseams ) I don't want her to have this same issue we had growing up ,pants are always to short so you either wore dresses or sucked it up and if you were a tomboy like me you were "allergic " to dresses.
So the questions is what brand of clothing do you think is long in seam wise ?

You might see if you can find a pair that are larger with adjustable waist. Jessy has a really small waist and really long legs but we can adjust the waist down to fit her

I think Osh Kosh is a good brand that has elastic in the waist (adjustable) for those skinny mini's! My ds fits that description and it is hard to find pants that fit without the waist being too big. Overalls too!

We've had luck with Osh Kosh adjustable waist and also with Old Navy. My almost 3 year old still has some 18 month clothes that fall off her little butt.

Not sure about inseam length but we use adjustable waist pants from Old Navy and Children's Place. My daughter only weighs 25 lbs at 2 1/2 but she needs the length of the 2T sizes. We just roll them up at the bottom if they are too long (they generally fit her just right but are huge in the waist).

Old Navy is pretty long & skinny and with the adjustable waist, you may be able to go up a size for length.

OR, do what my friend did and sew a ribbon or a ruffle at the hem to make them longer. If you're really crafty, you can use the same ribbon to make a matching belt or fabric to embellish the pocket. So cute for girls.

I buy Old Navy - they actually have "Skinny Jeans" and they are adjustable waist - Gap also (not that I can afford Gap but my IL's can!)

L & M are skinny minnies....they werent even 30 lbs at their 3 yr check-up. They need 3t length though. I also buy them old navy jeans. We've gotten them jeans from the children’s place without any problems too.

The thing I’m having a problem finding is undies!!! The 2t/3t waist holds okay but the leg holes just hang down around their legs!! LOL Poor things!!

All three of my older DDs are very skinny minnie and the 8yo is also very tall. Wranglers fit her well. Target brand adjustable waistband pants fit my other two better than Walmart brand. My 8yo also has some Aeropastle (sp?) jeans that are a handme down (to spendy for me :D ) that seem to fit her well. When she gets a tad older I know Maurices has nice jeans that are usually $26 and come in short, reg. or tall sizes.

On a related note, my 4yo (32 lber she has only gained about 12lbs since her 1year checkup!) has started to wear her 2 and 3T pants as capri pants!! :p They still fit in the waist because she just grows Up not Out!! LOL

Old Navy and Gap have slim pants.. the only ones that stay up on DD's tiny waist and are long enough to cover her ankles.

If you can't afford Gap or Old Navy, Target makes some pretty long pants w/adjustable waist too.

My Mitchell is only 23lbs and 35 inches and I have found that childrens place has great ones. Of course for boys you can get the sweat cargos and roll the tops. But the ones for boys I have found to work the best are the OLDER used jeans you can find at consignment stores. Seems the style these days is to wear baggy and that does NOT help. Kenna is still having trouble with 2T but I get all the adjustable waist ones at Target and Old Navy and they seem to do great.

I always tell people that my 6 yr. old has to have adjustable waist. She weighs 36 lbs and needs a size 7 length. She still wears 2t/3t undies tho. lol. When she was 2 years old we went on vacation and her clothes got really loose on her so we weighed her when we got home and she was only 17 lbs.! She is healthy though, so I try not to force feed her. Oh yeah, and she is the tallest in her kindergarden class. Go figure!

I agree with per mentioned above, my son is skinny too! He haven't really worn any jeans because they just fall right off of him. But he is also a tall kid and everyone think he's 2 yr old. But he is only 16 months old!

My girls are totally like that. I usually have to buy big so that they don't have highwaters. Thankfully, many children's pants come with the elastic adjustable waist now so that makes things easier. Starting at size 5, I've been able to find "slim" pants that are long enough but still fit in the waist.

I don't think that you have Mervyn's out there, but I love Sprockets brand for Hannah. The pants are long and skinny, and they are inexpensive too. Maybe you can try and find a pair on ebay? (I got rid of all my 2T Sprockets pants, or would have given them to you to try.) She can't wear most brands, especially things from Target. The waist might be adjustable, but I can't stand the baggy bum! Otherwise we like Children's Place or Old Navy.

With Tabitha, I think she spent a lot of time in just plain overalls (which she loved) so we did not have to worry about the waist always fitting perfectly, just the length.
M now wears 5T lenght, but the 3T waist would fit. We had many old navy and children's place clothes handed down to us from families that also had skinny kids.

Both of mine are skinny minnies & I can't really afford to shop at Gap either. However, I still look through their clearance rack when I go by and I've found some killer deals sometimes! So still check the clearance.....sometimes you'll be surprised. The other thing I do is shop 2nd hand. I've found all the stores around here & take our old clothes in for trade; that's where I've found the best pants. Gap, Old Navy & Osh Kosh are my favorites. Adjustable waists rock!! I've found that Children's Place for DS (who's my skinnier) usually are too big in the waist except for their jeans.

Good thing with girls, though, is they can always wear capris when the weather gets a bit warmer! And spring is just around the corner.

Oh, and a glimmer of hope for the rest of you dealing with differently proportioned kids... my boys have been skinny since birth. Teeny, tiny little waists with most of their weight being in their round bums and thighs. Anyway, just in the past couple of months I'm seeing a change. They are thickening a bit in the torso and their previously short and thick legs are lengthening out. They're starting to look more balanced and I've let the adjustable waists out two buttonholes on each side.

Their heads still look enormous compared to the rest of them but the 2T pants are fitting well now.

edited for little boy hitting "post" before I finished

I grew up being teased about my "floods" too. My dd has the same long legs. I buy her old navy slims. I buy the right length and They are also adjustable so they fit perfectly after being adjusted in the waist.

My mil has gotten us some Sonoma brand pants that fit really well. I actually have to roll up a pair on dd. I think they're from Kohl's. Everything else either falls off their bums, or are floods.

[SIZE=12pt]Someone got Katie 2 outfits that were 2t by Faded Glory and the pants fit great. She's a skinny minnie with super long legs. 3T is sooo big on her and I only have a few pairs of adjustable waist. Old navy, Gap and TCP seem to fit her pretty good too.

Joshie has a little pot belly but no hips and short legs...he can still easily wear 18 months pants but they are getting short, I have to put a belt on him when he wears 2t and 3t.

I've had really good luck with pants from Children's Place. Sizes 24 months and up have adjustable waistbands and 18 months and below seem to have good quality elastic that helps the pants stay up. And they aren't all that pricey - especially if you watch for sales. I just bought my daughter 2 pairs that were ~ $3.00 each.

We've also had some success with Kohls, Sonoma brand, but its kind of hit or miss.

My daughter has some adjustable waist pants from Old Navy and my Mom picked her up a bunch of stuff from Talbots Kids (I think they're going out of business) that have adjustable waists. :)

I just found some great jeans on clearance at Target today. They are Oshkosh Genuine Kids and they were only $6.48. The sizes were 12m to about 3t or 4t. All of them were super long and have adjustable waists.

My girls are 27 months and 23 and 24 pounds. The 12 month waists fit but are much too short. We were doing okay with 18 months for a long time but they've gotten noticeably shorted during a recent growth spurt. I bought size 24 months a Childrens' Place(2 for $22) last week and the adjustable waist is awesome. I have to tighten the waist as much as possible, but they fit!

Today, I was at the Osh Kosh outlet and they had all their clearance "buy one get one free" and I got 24 month jeans for the girls for $7.99 for two pairs. These ones were not adjustable waist, but they had a lot of elastic and fit great. DH thinks it is a little weird I was so excited about finding jeans that fit, but it's taken a while!

Glad you posted this. My Mackenzie doesn't have an ounce of fat on her, so her tushie is pretty non-existant. She found a pair of jeans the other day that I was meaning to give to charity and wanted to wear them. They were a size 24 months, and they fit! I bought some 4t slim adjustable jeans on clearance for next year, but I have a feeling even those will slip right off.

I have dealt with this forever with my oldest. The only thing that worked with me is "tacking" in the back of her pants in several spots. Since she is such a slow grower, I was able to un-tack a spot as she got a little bigger. We are finally in 3T's now so we have adjustable waists!
