I don't really go for "must-haves." After all, they are only 2!

My parents are getting them a train table (I found one with the table and a train set for $70 at JC Penney) and my IL's are getting them an art easel, a tool set, and a doctor set. My aunt is getting DS a tee-ball set where the ball is attached and I'm not sure what she is getting DD. We are getting DD a doll, a doll stroller, and a princess set for Mr. Potato Head. DS is getting a remote-control fire truck, a fireman's hat, and the Optimash Prime Mr. Potato Head. We are getting art supplies, a Thomas Engine to go with their train set, and a Leap Frog Word Wammer for both of them. We'll also get a few other things before all's said and done.

I've just tried to take clues from them about what they are interested in. I've let everyone know what they might want and we've gone from there. In all honesty, I probably won't get my kid's the must-have toys even when they are older just on principle. I want them to be grateful for what they have and not feel they "need" a toy. By not getting what they want, when they want it every time, it helps them learn patience and how to appreciate what they do have.

When I say must have I dont mean a new hot toy that everyone in the free word is going crazy about... IE: Tickle ME Elmo or something like that..

What i meant by must have is what is somehting that a 2 year old would really enjoy playing with and learn from... Im looking for Excellent educational toys for my kids or something that every 2 year old should have...

I dont buy the boys everythng they see b/c I dont want them growing up thinking thats the way the world works b/c its so not.

but thanks for your opinion on the toys!

Mine are really into building blocks/big legos. So for Mitchell I got him a bunch of the CAT mega blocks sets. You can make/build a lot of the trucks and stuff. He is also really into GeoTrax so he got more tracks and the Grand Central Station so we can make bigger tracks. He also is really into hot wheels cars so I got him a big car transporter with cars in it. His big brother has one and they fight over it all the time so I had to get it.
Kenna is getting the Rose Petal Cottage set and mostly princess/hello Kitty stuff.
    HTH!

So far I've gotten some new musical instruments (they love theirs so I figure I'll get a few more complicated ones), I just bought tonight a Feed the Monkey Game and a Magnetic Color Maze, I bought them a couple of stuffed robots recently, I got a couple of Diego watches (as if they can tell time) for their stockings. From other people I know they are getting remote control cars, Diego rescue pack sets, and a couple of games.
I know they will just love opening stuff, I swear the gifts are more for me because I get bored with their toys, but they don't! ;)
    Have fun shopping!
