...and don't have a water source near your changing area, what do you do? i want to switch over to cloth wipes but don't have a sink near my changing area so i'm not sure what to do. any tips or tricks would be appreciated. also, what to you do for wipes when you're out & about?

A lot of times my mom wipes the girls with cloths. I don't know if this is the way most moms do it, but when she changes their diaper if it's urine she just takes the diaper off at the change table and then she brings their naked booty to the sink to wipe it off. If it's poop she uses a wet cloth at the change table - and then brings the naked booty to the sink for a rinse.

If you are out and about my first thought was to bring a plastic ziplock baggy so the wipe will stay wet.

I have a wipes warmer that I put the cloth wipes in and literally just pour water on top of... just enough to wet them and not be dripping wet. When I go to use them, I make sure they are not too damp otherwise I just squeeze them to wring them out. I use the wipe and stick in the cloth diaper for washing. I do not add anything to the wipes for a solution... though I will say that sometimes it seems they need it... but we do baths every night so I don't worry.

You'll also want to make sure that you don't have too many in there that you aren't rotating through the whole bunch in a single day... b/c you don't want them to get moldy... that happens when you put them in a ziplock & take them... if you forget and leave them for a couple of days... we don't have that issue with the wipes warmer at home b/c we are using them constantly.

The fun part is figuring out how to put them in the wipes warmer... dh likes to lay them all flat, 1 layer of the 8x8, but then I find it too hard to get just one... I like to fold them in quarters... and then sometimes I just leave them wadded up from the washing machine ... keeps life fun to mix it up a bit.

Their little bums get quite clean with our method. I have a lot of wipes and it seems that its the perfect number b/c I end up getting low when I go to wash diapers... maybe we have 40 in the rotation? I just bought flannel (cute prints!!) at the store and serged (hemmed) the edges you can get quite a few for $3/yd or less.

Between babies I use the hand sanitizer for my hands b/c we don't have a sink nearby where our changing area is.

I also made a bunch in another color specifically just for face wipes after lunch... I figure I was washing cloth bibs... so why not wipes... for those I just go wet at a sink.

    hope that helps!

There are a few things you can do. You can use the disposible wipe container and have a few cloth wipes already wet in there. They might be a little chilly, but it works. Another thing a lot of moms do is to have a spraybottle of water where they change their babies and then just moisten the wipes at the time of the change.

That's what I do with the spray bottle. I warn you though, it can take a while to get the wipe wet enough. I'd like to get and more spritzy one, kind of like a hair spray bottle, KWM? so I can spray their little bums directly. Your best bet would probably be the wipe warmer or something like unto it.
For the wipes themselves I just got a bunch of cheap baby wash clothes. I keep some disposable wipes on hand for outings and for my mom since she's not so into the whole cloth thing.

I am wanting to switch to cloth wipes as well. My friend does it and in the morning she has a bowl with water that she fills and puts near the changing station - she just dips the wipes in the bowl.

I just use the spray bottle method and spray their bottom then wipe dry. Then I throw the wipes in the pail with the diapers. My favorite wipes are 8x8 squares of fleece.

When out of the house, I use disposable wipes because I also use them to clean the kids up at restaurants. I just wash the wipes with the diapers and pull them out after the diapers are dry.

When the girls were babies I did use the wipes warmer for my cloth wipes but I prefer the spray bottle now because it's more convenient for me.

I use foaming diaper spray. It's so easy and they make travel size, too, so I keep a little pump in my diaper bag. I bought a big pump for the changing table and a small one for the diaper bag, plus a refill container about 5 1/2 months ago and I still have enough left for a few more weeks (but I water mine down a bit). I definitely like using the foam - no mess! I squirt a small puff of it right onto the baby's bottom and use the wipe dry. They laugh when I spray it, too :)

I have an old disposable wipes container with wipe solution (I buy the yummy smelling soap bits and melt them in the microwave in 2 cups of water) on the changing table and stack the cloth wipes (I use baby washcloths since I got about a trillion at my showers!) right next to the container. I just dip them in and squeeze them out to use, sometimes its a bit chilly but no more than the disposable wipes! I toss them in with my cloth diapers to wash, easy as can be! I make the solution about every 2-3 days to give you an idea about how long it lasts.
