I am so back and forth on this. I had a c/s with the twins because one was breech. My first son was vaginal. The vaginal birth experience was not that pleasant. I had a bad tear and hemrroids from not pushing correctly. I actually think it was more painful than the c/s recovery. My c/s recovery was really good. The twins were in the hospital for about 4 weeks, but our days were very active and full during that time. We were shuffling our son here to there, I was at the hospital first thing in the morning unitl around 9 every night. Exhausting. I do remember mowing the yard about 2 weeks after they were born. Unfortunatley life didn't stop with them in the hospital. I really don't know what I want to try this time. I know that I recovered well from the c/s but I also didn't have 2 toddlers at home to care for and this time around I will have 3 children at home to care for. DH will be able to take some time off, but not too much and we also don't have family in the area. Anyway, what are you planning and what is your reason? THANKS

I am choosing to have another c/s. I am the type of person who is very scared of a vaginal birth and have no desire for the pain associated with it. My c/s recovery with the twin was pretty easy as well. I didn't have much pain and was back to normal pretty quickly. I'm hoping it's the same again this time. My OB was totally fine with me electng a c/s this time. On another note, both of my girls were born with low platelet counts...apparently, I passed some antibodies to them or something at the end and if they would have delivered vaginally, it could have been a big problem. Since we don't know what caused it, I was told that it would be less tramatic to do c/s again for future births.

I'm leaning towards a repeat c-sectoin for a lot of different reasons. THe twins were in the NICU for almost 3 weeks, but like you, I was there by 10 am and stayed until 9 pm every single day. I was driving back and forth by myself 5 days after thye were born (right after I was discharged). My recovery and section were EASY!

This time around, DH will take a week off after I'm discharged and then part-time for maybe a week after that if I want him too. HE said it's up to me. This time I'll have the twins to take care of, but they will almost be 3, so I won't be lifting them and stuff like that.

I opted to do vbac this time around...it wasn't an easy birth, but the recovery has been almost painless. (in spite of a 2nd degree tear this time, it feels like nothing at all compared to my 3rd degree tear or my c/s) I too tore on my first vaginal birth, 3rd degree...and it was rather on-par with my c/s recovery. My main motivator to do vbac was b/c 1. I might want another child....2. 60% of women with one c/s develop scar tissue..90% of women with 2c/s will develop scar tissue. I already felt like I had adhesions in there making my cycles more painful I just didn't want to add anymore. I gave a rather lengthy response to G-mom's post on this...if you look a few threads down. My advice remains the same.....do your research on it. No matter which you choose both are fairly safe....both come with their own risks which are very low in each case.

I also had a c/s with my twins, but it was after 28 hours of labor and it was an emergency...so my recovery was pretty awful. I had a vbac next and it was awesome, easy recovery and even the actual birth wasn't awful, I did have a Sufenta block. This time I am trying to have another vbac, but most community hospitals around here are not doing them any more...so we'll see. I agree with the others, do some research and then chose what you feel is best for you and your baby Good luck!

I am planning on another c/s with this baby. Due to some medical things that happened while pregnant with twins, I am having another c/s. And to be totally honest, it scares me to death to have a baby vaginally. Wierd I know, I don't stress about the c/s and my last one went pretty well.

I am planning on a VBAC. I don't really remember my recovery from c/s with the twins because of other issue that came up but I just know that trying to juggle Chloe and Cole and the new baby, plus living in a 3 story house (4 if you count the garage), I really need a short recovery time and a vaginal birth is where I am hopefullly heading!!

I am leaning towards a VBAC. I had a horrible experience with c/s. I loved the experience I had when I had DS vaginally-other than I didn't get to see him for 24 hours (I had severe pre-e and was on strict bedrest and he had issues and was in ICN). I want a chance to have a semi-"normal" experience having a baby and I want to be able to recover faster.

I am having another C/S. I was in labor with the girls for 29 hours and then had an emergency csection. My recovery was terrible I got an infection and had to have the c/s reopened and packed shut with gauze every 2 hours and then eventually only once a dat but it took 5 months to heal properly and now I have a herendous scar. My labor with the girls was horrible. I wouldnt dilate so they attached some sort of clamp to my uterus that pulled my cerviz down and open. It was SO SO painful and I have never heard of anyone else having this happen to them. They had to redo my epidural 3 times and it still didnt give me any relief because I couldnt get my back angled the right way. I had sever pre e and wasnt able to see or hold my girls for 3 days. It was just a horrible experience both ways. I am sacred to go into labor because I never progressed with the girls past a 4, who knows if that could happen again. There is only 1 doctor and 1 hospital 45 miles away that will do VBAC. I at first really wanted a VBAC but the more I have thought about it the more I am wanting a c/s. My MIL will be here for 4 weeks after the baby is born to help and DH is taking 2 weeks off maybe more if he has enough leave saved up. I will actually have more help this time then I did when I had my girls, that I am looking forward too!!!!!

If at all possible, we'll be having a VBAC. My c-section went great! I didn't take the meds when I was supposed to, so I did have one bad day in the hosptial, but I wanted to have the twins vaginal, but ds being breech made that impossible. A VBAC scares me, and i Hope I don't go past due... but right now, that is my choice.

I had an emergency c-section with general (because the epidural only numbed one side) and definitely want to go VBAC this time, or at least be awake for the baby to be born. I feel like I missed out on hearing their first cries because of being out completely.

As long as I am awake this time, it wouldn't matter, but I want to try to have a vaginal delivery at some point to know the feeling.

I definitely went with the VBAC because my c-section recovery was not pleasant. Since your previous vaginal delivery had some issues, you may want to look into a course like Hypnobabies to help you learn how to control your contractions, pushing, and negative thoughts of your first birth. Good luck deciding!
