I'm just curious to know what you might recommend.

If I have a c-section, I would like to know what might be easiest or best for healing and pain.

My doctor gives me the choice between stitches or staples. I believe the stitches are desolvable.

I want to go with whatever heals the best and easiest. Would you go with stitches or staples?

    TIA!

I wasn't given a choice but I got staples. They were fine, didn't feel a thing, even when they took them out. Cant do a comparison though as I never had stitches. Good luck with your choce

Same here. I was scared that it would really hurt when they took them out but didn't feel a thing.

    Stitches, no question.

I've had both. It hurt SO BAD to move around while the staples were in. The stitches were much easier. It felt more ... closed up? Less like I could lose my insides if I coughed. It also healed faster, for me, and smoother. And for the final kicker, the muscles never healed well after the staples, but after the stitches everything is back to being ok.

So I vote stitches. Good luck!

I didn't get a choice. I got staples. They took them out the day I was discharged and I just had steri-strips.

I wasn't given a choice, I had staples. I would have loved to have had stitches because the staples were terrible.

I wasn't given a choice, but I had staples and they healed up with no issues. The visiting nurse came out and removed them a week after my c-section, and that was not at all painful.

I also did not have a choice, I had staples. I did not think they were that bad. I delivered on a Saturday and they were removed the following Thursday at my ob's office.

I had no choice, I got staples. No problems and they took them out a few days after I was discharged from the hospital. I guess stiches would probably be nice if they are disolveable. I would ask the Dr. what he recommends and the difference between both (pros/cons).

I has surgical glue :icon_eek: I was shocked to find this out, every move I was afraid my insides were going to fall out. But it healed quickly and you can barely see the scar.

when I found out I was having a c-section my MOTHER told the doctor she had to give me stitches. The Dr. said they usually do staples and my mom said, "she is already going to have a scar, lets make it as little as possible!"
    and I totally agreed.

I got stitches for vainity purposes. and I think it was the right call.
Staples are easier for the DR and take about 1/4 as long. That's why you see that most of these women have staples. But the difference in scars is AMAZING.
I was uncomfortable but not in a great deal of pain, so I would go with stitches. I had interior ones that dissolved and exterior ones that dissolved. So I never had to go back to the DR to get them removed!!!!

I had staples. I wasn't offered a choice. I think my doc gave me a little tummy tuck while she was stitching me up, also. My scar is still healing--it sometimes swells and gets itchy, but I didn't have any trouble in the early days.

I had staples and wasn't given a choice. I didn't have any issues with them though. It healed very well and quickly. They took the staples out the day I left the hospital. I have heard stitches leave less of a scar so with a choice I might have gone for that. What's the harm in trying :)

I had stitches for my first c-section and staples for my second. I thought stitches were less painful and would choose stitches if I had to do it again. (Although the stitches came undone after my first c-section, the doc just fixed it and it was fine.)

I had stiches and steri-strips. I've never had staples, but I don't know anyone in real life who had problems with them.

I didn't have a choice. I had staples. They were fine, but they did feel like they pulled a lot. They were taken out a week later at my OB's office.
