When did you start giving it to them and how much?

I gave this to my oldest dd when she was around age 2. She wasn't eating breakfast before daycare and was thin as a rail. I fed it to her for several years - sometimes as a before bed treat. She's now 9 and still thin - but healthy. It was not a recommendation from my ped - I came up with it.

I gave her a 10 oz sippy cup with a heaping tablespoon plus a bit more.

I also give this now to my 2 yo twins as a treat - 'chocolate milk' but healthier.

My 10yr old son drinks this just about every morning for breakfast with a piece of wheat toast. Until I found it he wouldn't eat anything for breakfast! So anyway back to your original question, I give it to the twins sometimes as a treat in the a.m.. They get a tsp. in their sippy. I have been doing this on occasion for about a month and a half.

I started doing it right before the 2 year check up. Stopped for a long time & just started putting it in Justin's sippy again.

Mine are a little skinny, so my pedi suggested giving it to them with their morning milk. I split 1 packet between their 6 oz sippies every morning with breakfast. Alina will eat some cheerios or mini pancakes and fruit with hers. Madison will eat oatmeal or cereal bar or mini pancakes and fruit with hers. I don't really know if they've put any weight on yet, but it makes me feel better that they're getting a few extra calories in the morning.

I did the same with my two girls.

Pretty much since our two year well baby. Natalie is very underweight and her weight seems to stall if she doesn't get lots of extra calories. She weighs 23 pounds at 26 months. She gets a full packet plus two tbsn's of non fat powdered milk an hour before bed per doc's orders. Annika gets a little flavor in her milk as well so she doesn't feel singled out. Both are still getting whole milk for now as well.

DH did not recommend this for our girls until after they turned 2. Basically he felt that the vitamins & proteins contained in the powder was not good for them. We gave them another Nestle product "VHC" (very high calorie) that is used to supplement kids with CF, low weight, etc. It has a lot of calories but is not so hard on their kidneys as the higher calorie drinks might be.

I haven't given any to the twins yet but have been thinking about it because of their low weight. Thanks for all the tips ladies.

I started with the twins right about a year - just a small spoonfull in their sippy cups. I had given them chocolate Pediasure a couple times and they became addicted to the chocolate and refused regular milk unless it contained chocolate!! Much better than Hershey's!!

My Jessy has been getting a packet a night since 17 months when we switched from pedisure to carnation because I really couldn't afford all the pediasure. If she doesn't grow well the next 3 months she will go back on the pediasure.

My boys were on formula until their 2nd b-day. Once we transitioned to milk I started using Carnation.

Mitchell loves these!!! He is supposed to be on 4 pediasures a day but those can get soo expensive so I keep these around the house for days where he seems to be eating okay but not great. I have started to make both the kids treats in the afternoon on hot days. I put milk, yogurt, fruit, carnation instant breakfast packet (vanilla) and some ice in the blender and put it in a sippy and they just love it!! Better than drinking regular milk on a hot day! I actually mix it with their soy but they like it just the same. I started giving it to them about 4 mos ago. Mitchell hates the chocolate but loves the other flavors. My 7 yr old drinks them a lot for breakfast too!
