    We are mving to kids to beds soon maybe even tonight and I need to know how you all at 18m did it, How did it go?
    How long do they scream for?

    We dont have beds yet so i have 2 options

    1 take the front of the crib and use it as a toddler bed but run the rick of them rolling out of it should they choose to sleep in it.

    2. put the crib mattress on the floor.

    I dont like the fact that I have to shut their bedroom door to keep tem in but they will climb the gates.

    How did you go about changing from cribs to beds at 18m?

    ~~~ This is not something we want to do nor are we ready but they climb out of the cribs and I dont want them getting hurt. We have tried tents but they dont fit our cribs so I am out of options.~~~
    TIA
    I responded in the other thread as to how I did it, but if you are looking to start tonight without a bed with rails, I would use the mattress on the floor for safety. Good Luck.
    Mine slept with my and DH until they were past 2 years old. They are now sleeping in their own beds, most nights. What we did was give them our old king sized bed, with the boxsprings and mattress on the floor, with toddler rails on each side of the bed. That way they can either sleep close together, or farther apart.
    I moved my oldest DH into a twin bed at 18 months. It worked well. I made a big deal, bought cool sheets and explained that this is where big boys sleep and that big boys stayed in their beds all night! It worked!!
    My DD got into a twin bed when she was one and it worked great too! Just a couple of night explaining that they cant stay up playing all night! LOL! Butot worth it! I am a crib hater! LOL!
    We had there new room set up for a while so they could play in it before they transitioned completely, we were expecting and knew that there nursery would become Mollys room. One night I simply asked if they were ready for night nights and they climbed into their big boy beds, they were ready, I was not. I did not put up bed rails, have never used them and they have never fallen out of bed. The first night they did not budge, perhaps loving the excitement of a big boy bed or scared because of all of the room, not sure. We also painted their ceiling with clouds and put glow in the dark stickers and hung airplanes. We just designed a really cool boys room for them.
    We moved our DD into a twin bed with a lower mattress at 18 m and used a safety rail since she was/is a very active sleeper. We just put it together with new bright bedding and in she jumped. We took the crib down and she slept in it that night with no problems. We did put a gate up since the bedrooms are on the top floor and if she did get out of bed I didn't want her falling down the stairs half alseep. She slept better in the bed than the crib.
    With these two I'll probably leave them "trapped" for as long as possible! :p
    We moved our twins at 20 months. We had always shut the door when they went to bed so that wasn't an issue. We took everything out of their room except a small basket of books, locked their closet, and bolted furniture to the walls. They each had a toddler bed (one we bought off craigslist and another crib that converted.) The crib that converted to a day bed, we added a side rail that we bought at Burlington Coat Factory. Basically we put them in the beds, said sweet dreams, and shut the door. The first night they played and laughed for 2 hours, the next 1 hour and now a month later we have no problems with nap or bedtime. Occasionally they will miss a naptime but its not a big deal, we will just put them to bed 30 minutes earlier that night. Good Luck!
