When your twins won't drink the milk out of their sippies, do you offer them a bottle instead after a while?

I've been doing this so that I know they have been getting their daily milk intake.

They are usually not the best of eaters so I think it's important. Am I wrong?

I didn't. It didn't take long for them to figure out I wasn't giving in. Mine were off the bottle only a week after their first birthday. My SIL's little boy will be 3 in August and is STILL on a bottle, because if he even screams for a mili second for it she gives in. He still will not drink out of a sippy.

Mine drink water or a little juice added to their water in their sippies.

I've been offering them milk for a couple of months & they are yet to drink more than a couple of sips.
I usually still offer them a bottle of formula in the mornings & evenings only. If I eliminate those I'd be very worried about their nutritional intake..
My pedi still gives her son a sippy of formula, she also does this for added nutrition.

I found when we made the transition from bottle to sippy at 12 months, Trevor especially did not drink well out of a cup until he knew he was not getting a bottle anymore. It takes time for them to increase their intake with sippy cups. I would not keep giving a bottle as well, JMO. They will get the hang of it soon.

If you don't mind me asking, how much milk do your twins get on a daily basis? Excluding other calcium suppliments..such as yoghurt, cheese etc?

    Thanks!

We didn't do that because it seemed like they just weren't going to drink and cry because they knew they would get a bottle.

We give them lots of yogurt, cheese and sugar free pudding

Mine will be 14 months on monday and get one bottle at nap time and one before they go to bed. I just dropped the am bottle about two weeks ago... NOW i will drop the afternoon bottle next week and plan to have them off all bottles by 15 months. :) I am not rushing it and my DS eats great but wont drink that much from a sippy and my dd eats little but loves her sippy! I figure that when it is time to take it away (time in my head) it should work ok. To me they are still babies so the 12 month thing was not a big deal to me. Many women BF their kids until 2+ years so a bottle past a year was nothing to me. Mine NEVER get a bottle to go to sleep, they eat and then they get laid down. ;)

Yes, mine also gets a bottle after bathtime & then in to bed. They never take a bottle in bed with them.

Would you believe it? I added a little bit of pediasure (chocolate) to the milk & they almost drank the whole sippy (about 8oz) between the two of them...
When a say little, it was almost a dash!!

You know somedays I wish these kids were more predictable...I guess that's still coming!

We switched cold turkey at 11 months. I didn't offer bottles at all anymore. I was lucky if my girls were getting 10-12 oz. of milk per day at that point. It took them a good month to increase their intake and now they are up to 1.5-2 sippies (8 oz.) a day.

At 1 year I would say between 10-14 oz a day it just depended on how much they would drink that day. Now it's more like 16 oz especially for Emilie, she loves milk and will ask for it over juice.

Sounds like the adding the pedisure was a hit.
