For those of you whose babies take Zantac...

My DS was just put on Zantac today. He is 12 pounds and was put on 1.5 ml 2x per day. I am curious as to what dosages your children might be on and how often the dosage changed depending on their weight. Thanks for sharing!

 

Hi, my boy just started taking Zantac too, and he's on the same dose as your guy - 1.5 ml 2x a day. He weighs 14.5 lbs. He also takes Prilosec twice a day, 4.6 mls. Unfortunately, neither seems to be working. REFLUX SUCKS!!!! I had no idea what a nightmare it truly is ... poor little guys ...

 

My daughter has been on Zantac since she was about 2.5 months. She is still on it at 8 months but weighs 12lbs like your son and is on 1 ml 2X a day. (15mg of Zantac per/ml in her prescription)

 

Ours were on 1ml twice daily. We waited for about 5 days and with no relief at all were switched to Prevacid and within 3 days we saw some great results. So, if the Zantac isnt working for your kiddos by 7 days then I would call the Ped and see if there is another option for you.

 

My daughter has been on it since she was discharged from NICU @ 4.5 weeks. She's now 6 mos and 15.9 lbs. She's on 4 ml. We bumped it up from 3ml at 4 months.

Our DS is on 1ml 2x a day...I didn't realize that the dosage can vary as much as it does!

 

Its based on weight. One of mine is also 1.5ml 2x a day but I am expecting it to increase next week at their 6mo appt.
