For those of you who use the washable swim diapers...

I have spent a small fortune on swim diapers. I would like to find some resusable/washable ones instead of the disposables. I looked for some online, but the ones I found were pricey. I don't want to spend alot, because next year they will be potty trained and not need them.

I didn't relize how many we were going threw. Sometimes 2-3 a day per kid. Depending on whether we have an active day in the pool or not. Oh yeah this is the first year we had our own little swimming pool to use eveyday.

Any suggestion on where to find them?

I ordered some from KidSurplus.com last summer. (We're still using them.) Their selection is highly variable, but it's worth a shot. I think they were about $5 apiece?

I bought one set online but they were not true to size at all so I had to return them. I ended up buying these and love them.

This was the other one I bought but did not like (I forgot I went through two others before I found ones I liked). The reason this did not work for us was because they drooped to their knees and we had the correct size. However, if you look at the reviews, they are good reviews. I think only one person wrote about the same problem I had.

The past few years I've found them at Target. (I think they're on clearance right now)

Adding on to my own post: The ones I bought were not true to size either. They are supposedly 12-18 months, but my kids are 2 years 8 months now, and the swim diapers still fit. (A little tight around the legs by this point.)

But I didn't think too much about it, as they always seem to wear at least one size smaller in pants. And diaper covers in particular always seem to run big -- the ones that match the size 18M dresses look like they'd fit a 10-year-old. I've never understood it.

I have read on this board that you can reuse "disposable" swim diapers if they're not soiled. Just rinse them out and hang dry...can't tell you yet if it works because they take a LONG TIME to dry and I'm still waiting from Saturday. I probably should have rolled them in a towel to squeeze out the water before hanging them up.

Otherwise we got our reusables at Target.

I set aside one of our Happy Heiny cloth diapers for the purpose. It works great and the fit perfectly since they are actually diapers.

We use the iplay brand and I have purchased them from Bambino Mountain and from Amazon in the past. We love them. They run a tad on the small side, so when in doubt, order the size up.

Target sells some swim pants, but I'm not sure how big they get. I have them for my babies, but I didn't buy them for after the first summer. I did always put a diaper under them just to save the inside of the pants. They did protect the diaper from getting wet & swelling.

Tammie, this is what I do. I use two pair a week, just rinse them out, hang them out to dry. It takes about 2 days to dry them, hence the two pair. Good luck!
