Do you give them the AGE ADJUSTED number...for instance - someone was asking me the other day "how old are your twins now?" My response - since they are 8 weeks old - was oh they were supposed to be born a week and a half ago - but they are really 8 weeks old. MY daughters came 7.5 weeks early.

I say they are 5 months old, but they were 9.5 weeks early.

I just say their real age, ie 6 months.

Before mine "caught up" physically I would say just this. Now people tell me my 31.4 week preemies are big for their age, esp. Nathan. So not gloating but I love it!!!

My DH adjusts but I don't tend to anymore. I stopped when people kept saying my girls looked big for their age.

I say their actual age. I have never gone by adjusted age for anything.

    the age they really are.
I dont think its necessary to tell people their adjusted age, they came out when they were ready.

Mine were born at exactly 34 weeks, but I always said they're actual age and then added 'but they were a little early.'

I always used to say there real age and then tell people they were 2months early. I stopped doing that around 6 or 7 months when people always started guessing they were older then even there real age.....and there not super big or anything.

I used to say their actual age but that they were born 9 weeks early. Now I just say their actual age, they don't look or act smaller than their age anymore.

It depends on who is asking. If it's just some stranger on the street, I say their adjusted age. If it's someone I know, I say their actual and their adjusted with a very short explanation that they were born very early. It makes no sense for me to tell people my girls' actual age because they were born at 26 weeks and look their adjusted age (2 1/2 months). Some of their development is closer to their actual age, but they could never "pass" as 5 1/2 month old twins. When they start looking like their actual age, then I'll stop mentioning their adjusted age.
