So, I have a ton of newborn stuff (hand me downs mostly from my last two), but my mother and I were talking today... Should I get some premie outfits? Twins can usually expect to be a bit smaller, and from what I understand, I shouldn't expect them to grow AS fast as my others.

Should I run out and buy some?

    What are you planning on?

My twins didnt grow out of their clothes as quickly as my singles and we did need the smallest size we could find for the first little while maybe you could look out for 1 outfit each in premmie and if you dont need them great, if you do they are there.

FWIW, my SIL just had my nephew this week and he weighed 6lb 7oz. They had to run out and buy some preemie clothes because they thought he was going to be 9lbs (she ended up delilvering 4 weeks early). Wal-Mart is a great place to find preemie sizes readily available.

I second that Walmart has usually has a great selection of preemie clothes.

My twins were born at 36wks and we used preemie/newborn sizes for a long time. Almost 2 months. (They were 5.10 & 5.7 at birth.) I would have a few of the zipper sleepers at least. We used those the most the first several months.

my girls were 6.8 and 6.9 pounds at 38weeks 4 days. I had a couple of preemie things which I am glad I had - even at those good weights, some newborn clothes were just huge! my two out grew the preemie things in a few weeks. I also preferred preemie diapers for those first few weeks! Walmart is a great place to buy preemie outfits!

This is a great thread. Wondering if I should go buy some more! We had a TON of boy clothes given to us and there were probably about 5 or 6 premie outfits in that batch. Girl clothes we are running a little low on anyway so we only have maybe 2 for her plus a cute onesie my DH picked out (we've been putting off getting more to see how much she weighs and what we use most of). We got 2 premie outfits for each of the babies at the baby shower (I registered for them). I packed those plus 2 newborn outfits in their "hospital bag" since I don't know for sure what they'll be wearing. Since I'll be delivering next week and I'm guessing they'll be between 5-6 lbs I'm really wondering if I should get more but I'll probably just have DH run out and get some at Wal Mart if that's what they need while we're still in the hospital. And "gasp" I'll have to depend on him to wash them too. ;) I just don't want to buy a ton and have them be too big but it sounds like even over 6 lbs they still need premie? I'll have to keep watching this thread. Thanks for starting it!!

I had thought maybe I had too many preemie outfits & boy was I glad I did!
My girls were 6lbs & 4lbs 10oz, and wore preemie outfits for about a month.
I agree, Walmart has a HUGE selection of preemie stuff for cheap :good:
Maybe get a few outfits & only wash 2-4 of them & leave tags on the others should you need to return them.

My boys (5 lbs 7 oz and 4 lbs 3 oz) wore preemie clothes for a month and a half before having a growth spurt. I second the walmart suggestion though their preemie clothes seemed to be short and wide. My littlest was long and lean so carters stuff worked great for him.

My daughter wore preemies for about a month (she was 5lb 15oz @ 36wks) So having a couple pairs of preemie clothes on hand is a great idea I think, especially for leaving the hosiptal...newborns are so skinny. Good to know about the walmart tip, we bought from babiesrus and spent a ton. We also have a twin parents group in my town and they have a preemie closet, where you can borrow preemie outfits and donate any you recieve after they grow out of them, depending on the boys size and when they are born we probably will participate in that.
