If you added rice cereal to your bottles, when did you stop? The boys have been off meds for a while, but I have been hesitant to stop putting cereal in - now that they are eating more solids, I think it might be time... how did you know, and how did you do it - cold turkey, reducing amount???

    TIA

I haven't stopped yet but I was thinking I would add a tsp less and see how it goes and then take it down tsp by tsp and see if they can tolerate it. Congrats on being off meds, I wish we were! Good luck!

I am still adding cereal to their bottles as I am scared to stop. They are still on their meds now and we will attempt to take them off a 1 year. Their, well my son was mostly the spitter, has really decreased in the last week, so I am hoping they are out growing it. But we still put cereal in the bottles.

If you think they might be ready for it, give it a try! Jacob has the worst reflux of the 2, and still spits up even with the cereal, so I will not be taking his cereal out for a while. Emma on the other hand, doesn't spit up AS much, so just yesterday I lessened the amount of cereal in her bottles and she seems to be doing well so far. It was scary at first....I guess I expected a fountain of spit up! [IMG]

It didn't work very well for us, I mean it did help with the reflux and there was much less spit up, but the nipple was always getting clogged not matter how big I split it... so I started using a spoon and feeding it to him that way. They both ate Rice cereal until after a year of age, plus all their other solids.
