dh and I went to walmart yesterday and bought a ton of things for the girls for fall and winter. it was really hard to tell what size to get them. I ended up buying a bunch of turtle neck and long sleeve onsies in size 24mo. The girls will be 18 months this month. I tried on some of the stuff and I'm not sure what to do. I read on another post that perhaps they are in a slow down phase of growing at this point. The common brand I seem to see at Walmart is George Kids. I tried on the turtleneck onsie and it fits them lenth wise in the crotch but it is swimming on the sides and around their legs. Is this how it should be or do you think the 18 mo will do them better? I would like for this stuff to last into the spring. The other brand I bought them was Faded Glory and it seems way too big for them. Lots of exchanges to do. I asked one woman who had a dd who was almost 2 (and seemed to be almost the same size as my girls) and she said that she finds their clothes to be true to size. So if they are 18 months does that mean buy them 18mo or 18-24? The 24 months just seem so huge on them. Also, do their clothes tend to shrink a lot? What is your experience with Walmart clothes? My girls are on the bigger side. Arwen is about 29lbs and Lorien is about 27lbs if that helps. Thanks so much for your help.

I would stick with the bigger size. I have found that after a couple of washes, they tend to shrink some. At least the Faded Glory brand does. I'm not sure about the other brand.

My girls are 22 and 23 pounds and currently wearing 18 month clothes. When I did some shopping for fall and winter I bought 24 month clothing. I'd rather have the clothes fit bigger and last longer. Plus you just never know whats going to shrink and whats not. HTH

I got the girls a few onesies a couple of weeks ago from Wal-Mart and I went w/ the 24 months. I think they are Faded Glory brand, but like Trish said, I would rather them be too big right now. Plus, I have problems finding the onesies to fit in the crotch w/ the smaller sizes. My girls are chunky too. 25lbs and about 32 inches long, so the snaps are a problem. Clear as mud huh?

I always buy a little bit big so that it gets through the season- and to add in for the possible shrink-factor. If the onesies are big at the legs, that may not matter since chances are they will have pants over them. I would worry more about length than the roomy leg holes.

Walmart tends to be wide ...and shrink. I would go with the larger size. My girls are about 25 lbs and 35"tall- I get 18-24 month there instead of 2 T everywhere else. Keep your receipt and then wash them...if they shrink too m uch return them!

I have pretty much stopped buying Wal-Mart brand clothes for my girls because they are tall and skinny and the Wal-Mart clothes seem to be short and wide (at least the few things I bought in the past). The only thing I still buy are PJs, the occassional dress, or t-shirts. I have a hard time finding onesies of any kind to fit my girls now. Their bodies are too long for most of the onesies.
